Nakamoto began competing professionally in Muay Thai in 2005 and has won eight world championships. They have a perfect 16-0 record so far.
Miriam began competing in MMA in 2012. On September 15, 2012, she made her MMA debut at Red Canvas Fight Promotions- Art of Submission 2. In the second round, Nakamoto finished her opponent, Elizabeth Phillips, with knees.

Miriam Nakamoto is one of the best strikers in the world for women. She has been doing both Muay Thai kickboxing and traditional boxing for more than 13 years, and she is good at both. Since 2005, she has been a pro, and her Muay Thai record is 14-0.
Miriam was on the popular reality show “Fight Girls” in 2007. Later that same year, on August 12, Miriam had her first world title fight at the prestigious Queen’s Cup in Thailand. This was her chance to show off her skills. She easily won the WPMO world title by beating her opponent in all five rounds and getting a unanimous decision.
She took part in the IFMA World Championships two years after that. She went up against Rachida Hilali of Morocco, Jenni Andersson of Sweden, and Katariina Perkkio, who won the European title in 2009. Each of these women had at least 25 Muay Thai fights, and some of them had as many as 45. Miriam had 5 points when she went into the tournament. No American man or woman had ever won this award before. She only had two weeks to get ready for this competition. (She had been asked to join the US National Muay Thai Team to replace a player who was hurt.)
Angela Rivera Parr is a legend in the sport of women’s Muay Thai, and Miriam had the honor of fighting against her in April 2010. The IMTA-TBA World Title would be held in Santa Monica, California. She beat Parr with a unanimous vote. At the end of a good year in 2010, she won the coveted WBC World Title. She knocked out Claire Haigh of Luxembourg in the first round with a hard punch. Claire Haigh had the third best score in the world.
After missing all of 2011 because she had surgery to fix her ACL, Ms. Nakamoto has come back strong. At the Legends Muay Thai event in San Francisco, California, on April 28, she fought Sandra Bastian for the WMC Lightweight World Title. In the third round, Miriam ended the fight with an elbow cut.
Miriam trains at Dublin, California’s Combat Sports Academy. Coach Kirian Fitzgibbons, who is the head coach of the US National Muay Thai Team, is teaching her.

At Invicta FC 7: Honchak vs. Smith on December 7, 2013, Nakamoto fought Lauren Murphy, who had never lost a fight before, for the first Invicta FC bantamweight championship belt. When Nakamoto hurt her knee in the fourth round of the fight, she lost.
