Rajasthan Government Inaugurated Medical Project ‘RAHAT
- Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje inaugurated a medical project Rajasthan Heart Attack Treatment (RAHAT) programme, launched by a private hospital on February 25, 2017.
- The programme is a ST-Elevatiori Myocardial Infarction (STEMI), a very serious type of heart attack, management telemedicines platform that captures and transmits patient’s EKG along with clinical history from remote geographical locations to heart command center hub.
- A team of expert cardiologists at HCC-Hub provided immediate EKG interpretation and real time STEMI guidance and management via tele-consultation by instantly recognising fatal EKG abnormalities.

Rajasthan became Second Largest Crude Oil Producer in Country
- Rajasthan became the second largest crude oil producer in the country after the offshore field Bombay High on February 23, 2017.
- Oilfields in the State were producing nearly 90 lakh tonnes oil annually, which is 24% of the total domestic crude oil production.
- It will help in holistic development of the country and will create job opportunities for youths, women and farmers.
National Biodiversity Congress Held in Kerala
- The National Biodiversity Congress (NBC) 2017, one of the significant biodiversity mega events of the country, held here from February 22, 2017.
- It hosted by the Kerala State Biodiversity Board, the present edition of the biennial event comprises an array of programmes including conference, exhibition, capacity building workshops and Children’s Biodiversity Congress.
- The conference aims to identify practical evidence-based case studies at regional level to support the plan of action and has the focal theme ‘Mainstreaming Biodiversity for Sustainable Development’ with four sub-themes.
- As part of the programme, a National Biodiversity Conference, governed by a national advisory committee comprising biodiversity conservation experts.
Punjab Banned Manufacture of Gutkha, Pan Masala
- Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal ordered ban on manufacture of food products containing tobacco or nicotine like ‘gutkha’ and ‘pan masala’ in the State with immediate effect on February 22, 2017.
- The ban also applies on processed, flavoured, scented, chewing tobacco, whether they are packaged or unpackaged or sold as one or separate products.
- The decision has been taken in view .of the orders of the Supreme Court wherein it observed that to circumvent ban of sale of gutkha, the manufacturers are selling pan masala (without tobacco) with flavored chewing tobacco in separate sachets.
Gujarat Budget 2017-18
- Gujarat government presented a populist budget in the election year, with a slew of welfare initiatives and no new taxes on February 21, 2017.
- Finance Minister Nitin Patel presented the budget for 2017-18 in the; Assembly with overall layout of Rs 172179 crore, which is Rs 20327 crore more than last year.
- The budget has overall surplus of Rs 239.16 crore while the revenue surplus is estimated at Rs 6065.60 crore.
- Of the total outlay of Rs 172179 crore, Rs 103498.49 crore has been earmarked for developmental expenditure while 66969 crore allocated for non-developmental expenditure.
- Agriculture, irrigation and rural development will get the highest share of 21.88% in the developmental expenditure, followed by education and sports (21.17%), water supply, housing and urban development (16.72%) and energy, industry and minerals (10.42%).
