Under-19 Asia Cup 2016

  • India defeated Sri Lanka to win the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup title in Colombo on December 21. 2016.
  • With the victory, India completed a hat-trick of Asia Cup titles as they had woo the previous one in UAE (2014) and shared the inaugural tournament with Pakistan in Malaysia (2012).
  • Chasing a 274-run target, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 259 in 48.4 overs Sri Lanka started the chase in lop gear, scoring 27 for no loss in three oven, but soon lost Vishva Chathuranga in the fourth.

Indian Super League 2016

  • Alitiico de Kolkata came out as champions after defeating the Kerala Blasters in a penalty shootout, 4-3. during the final on December 18, 2016.
  • The 2016 Indian Super League season is the third season of the Indian Super League, the football league, since its establishment in 2013. The season featured eight teams again, each playing 14 matches during the regular season before the finals.

FIFA Club World Cup 2016

  • Real Madrid won their second Club World Cup, defeating hosts Kashima Antlers in the final on December 24, 2016.
  • The 2016 FIFA Club World Cup was the 13th edition of the FIFA Club World Cup. The tournament was hosted by Japan.
  • A FIFA-organised international club football tournament between the champion clubs from each of the six continental confederations, as well as the national league champion from the host country.

BWF Superseries Finals 2016

  • Indian badminton ace PV Sindhu heated higher ranked Akane Yaniaguchi of Japan in a tough opening encounter in Group B an December 16. 2016.
  • Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu, who made it through to the year ending event after a great showing towards the end of the year staged a comeback after losing the first game to finally beat Yamaguchi 12-21,21-4, 21-15.
  • She became the first ever Indian women’s singles player to win a medal at the Badminton World Championships. In March 2015, she became the youngest recipient of India’s fourth highest civilian honor, the Padma Shri. LUGE.

18th Asian Championship 2016

  • Indian luger Shiva Keshavan won the silver medal at the 18th Asian Luge Championship at Nagano (Japan) on December 27, 2016.
  • The first place was retained by Hidenari Kanayama, Japan, and the third place was secured by Dong Hyeon Kim from Korea.
  • Shiva has won two gold, one silver, and two bronze medals at the Asian Championship so far.

Western Asia Youth Championship 2016

  • Kush Bhagat won all three gold medals on offer in the 1st Western Asia Youth Chess Championship that concluded in Al Ain Chess Club, UAE, on December 31, 2016.
  • He overcame the challenges from 158 participants from 20 countries across the world, and he won the rapid format with a fine score of 6.5 points out of a possible 7.
  • In the blitz format in which he is the world under 7 schools champion, he finished with seven out of seven rounds with a clear two-point margin over his closest rival.

WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight Title

  • The Vijender Singh won WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight title with an emphatic technical knockout win over Tanzania’s Francis Cheka in New Delhi on December 16. 2016.
  • The World Boxing Organization (WBO) is a sanctioning organization which recognizes professional boxing work) champions.
  • It is recognized by the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) as one of the four major world championship groups, alongside the World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Council (WBC). and international Boxing Federation (IBF). The WBO’s headquarters are located in San Juan. Puerto Rico.
  • At the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, he won the bronze medal after losing the semifinal bout against Kazakhstan’s Bakhtivar Artayev.
  • At the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, he defeated Carlos Gongora of Ecuador 9-4 in the quarterfinals which garnered him a bronze medal—the first ever Olympic medal for an Indian boxer.
