During the third episode of the sixth season of Port Protection, Sam and his son Matt are joined on a fishing trip with another member of the Carlson family.
Kelly, the couple’s youngest son, is a musician who did not follow in his father’s or brother’s footsteps by working in the outdoors; however, this does not imply that he cannot occasionally put his toes back into the icy waters of the wilderness.
Even though it was wonderful to see everyone again, some people speculated that Kelly’s unexpected visit may have had anything to do with the condition of his father.

Matt Carlson, the son of Sam Carlson, has devoted a significant portion of his life to working for the Port Protection.
He did end up moving to the mainland in order to be with his companion Kaylee Burk, who was formerly his fiancée, and his daughter Shipley.
It would appear that Matt was residing in Ketchikan, Alaska, and working as a Captain for Baranof Fishing Excursions throughout the time that he spent on the mainland.
However, he and Kaylee eventually went their own ways, and Matt made the decision to go back to the island in Alaska.
Despite the fact that he was well aware of how challenging life may be in the distant area, he was prepared to accept the challenge and embrace his roots.
Now, it’s not uncommon to spot Matt hanging out with his dad while they enjoy some quality time together. In addition to that, it appears that he still possesses the same level of expertise that he always had when it comes to hunting and fishing.

A post was shared on a Facebook group for Port Protection Alaska towards the tail end of the previous year, despite the fact that we have not witnessed anything on the show that has caused us to be concerned about Sam Carlson’s health. There are currently 16,9k group members on this page.
The following was shared by a member: “Prayers for Sam Carlson. Hope he’s ok”. The user did not elaborate on what she meant in the post, but further on in the comments, there was some discussion about Sam maybe being sent to the hospital.
Fans of Port Protection Alaska raced to the video’s comments section to offer their well wishes to Sam.
In spite of the fact that Matt did not elaborate on what had transpired with his father, he did assure his followers on his personal Facebook page that Sam was doing fine.
Matt discusses the program on his page on a daily basis, and on January 11, he addressed his father’s health in a post that he dubbed a “shameless promotion” for the show, in which he encouraged people to watch the first episode of the new series.
A supporter sent the following feedback after watching the show: “Just saw it, and you were fantastic as always, as were all.” I hope and pray all is well with your father.
In response to the comment, Matt wrote in the thread, “He is.”
