Helsley returned to Memphis to begin 2019. He was recalled to the major leagues for the first time on April 16. That night, he made his major league debut, pitching two and a third innings of relief and recording a single in his first at bat.

Helsley was injured on June 13 with right shoulder impingement and was reassigned to Memphis after being activated on July 3. On August 4, Helsley was recalled for the final time and will spend the rest of the 2019 regular season in St. Louis’ bullpen.

Helsley went 2-0 with a 2.95 ERA in 36 1/3 innings of relief for the Cardinals.

2015

Helsley made his professional debut with the Johnson City Cardinals shortly after signing and spent the entire 2015 season there, posting a 2.01 ERA in 40 3 innings. He pitched for the Peoria Chiefs in 2016, going 10-2 with a 1.61 ERA in 17 starts and being named a Midwest League All-Star. Helsley began 2017 with the Palm Beach Cardinals and was promoted to the Springfield Cardinals in July after going 8-2 with a 2.69 ERA in 17 games (16 starts).
