Prithvi Shaw: National Record

In a Harris Shield match in November 2013, Shaw set a new record by getting 546 runs from 330 balls while playing for Rizvi Springfield. It was the highest score in Indian school cricket until Pranav Dhanawade beat it on January 4, 2016. It is now the fourth highest score ever made by a batsman in any organized form of cricket. Only AEJ Collins, who got 628 in 1899, and Charles Eady, who got 566 in 1901, did better.

Dadabhoy Havewala scored 515 in 1933, which was the highest score ever made by an Indian in a registered game of cricket.

Before he was caught and bowled, Shaw batted for six hours and seven minutes and hit 85 fours and five sixes. Rizvi scored 991 runs, while St. Francis d’Assisi was only able to score 93.

The innings got a lot of attention from the media, especially since it happened only four days after Tendulkar quit international cricket for good. In the same tournament in 1988, Tendulkar had scored 326. In a profile of Shaw for Freaky Good Futures, Howard Swains said, “Less than a week after India said its last goodbye to the Little Master, the Master’s Apprentice played an innings that was so good it was almost supernatural.”
