When Phil Baroni continued to support his teammate even after he was found guilty, Jonathan “War Machine” Koppenhaver, a former mixed martial artist, was found guilty in connection with the August 2014 attack on Christy Mack, a pornographic film actress, and his partner. He was sentenced to life in prison with a 36-year parole eligibility period.

Early Life Of Phil Baroni
Baroni was expelled from Massapequa High School in his early years for assaulting a janitor, just a week before the state wrestling championships. Baroni wrestled for Nassau Community College and was a two-time All-American, finishing fifth and second in the country.
Also, Baroni then attended Hofstra University before transferring to Central Michigan University, where he majored in biology and psychology and received his bachelor’s degree in psychology.
He was also an amateur bodybuilder between the ages of 17 and 20, competing in six shows and finishing first or second. He studied kickboxing under Keith Trimble and competed in seven matches, all of which he won by knockout.

Career Of Phil Baroni
Talking about his career, Baroni debuted the UFC in only his second professional fight, at UFC 30 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The match was against fellow outstanding specialist Curtis Stout. However, he won by arbitrary decision. Soon after that, Baroni merged with Hammer House. He bounced back in Japan’s PRIDE Fighting Championships promotion with some knockout wins against Ikuhisa Minowa, Ryo Chonan, and Yuki Kondo.
Resulting from the Shamrock fight, the California State Athletic Commission publicized that Baroni verified positive for two types of stanozolol, anabolic steroids, and boldenone. He appealed the $2500 fine and confronted a one-year suspension. In the end, the penalty sustained while the suspension reduced to six months.
Baroni returned to once again fight in the UFC in 2009. On November 21, 2009, after he contracted a multi-fight deal, his return fight was at UFC 106 against TUF 7 winner Amir Sadollah. UFC Career Of Phil Baroni
Baroni made his UFC debut at UFC 30 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in only his second professional fight. Baroni defeated fellow striking specialist Curtis Stout in a unanimous decision. Also, Baroni was undefeated 3-0 before getting his second UFC fight at UFC 34 against Matt Lindland, with whom he would later develop a rivalry. Baroni was defeated by decision and suffered his first professional defeat.
However, Baroni quickly established himself in the UFC with several impressive stoppage victories. On September 27, 2002, he scored a KO victory over former UFC Middleweight Champion Dave Menne. Baroni famously jumped on the top of the cage and proclaimed himself to be the “best eva” after the knockout of Menne.
Baroni then rematched Matt Lindland, whom he had previously lost by decision of the judges. In their rematch, Baroni was defeated by Lindland by another judge’s decision. At UFC 45 – Revolution, he was pitted against Matt Lindland’s teammate, future UFC Middleweight Champion Evan Tanner.
Baroni said he believed he was asked if he wanted to continue, and said “yes”. Landless halted the fight and was struck by an enraged Baroni. Baroni was later suspended for four months for striking the official. Upon his return, Baroni was given a rematch with Tanner at UFC 48 – Payback, but lost by decision.
Despite having lost three consecutive fights, the UFC pitted Baroni against the relatively unknown Pete Sell. Baroni dominated early on with numerous takedowns and a dominant standup, but Sell secured a guillotine choke and Baroni appeared to lose consciousness, but then tapped out for the first time in his career, effectively ending the fight.
