Saroj Kumar Jha

• Saroj Kumar Jha has been appointed to a key position in the World Bank on February 1,
  2016 with President Jim Young Kim assigning him a role to provide strategic leadership to address the challenge of fragility, conflict and violence.
• Saroj Kumar Jha is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. Before this apppointment, Jha was World Bank’s Regional Director for Central Asia based in Almaty since February, 2012.
• Jha joined the World Bank in 2005 as a Senior Infrastructure Specialist in the Sustainable Development Network, after significant experience with the Indian government and the United Nation’s Development Program (UNDP) as a senior executive.

Archana Ramasundaram

• Senior IPS officer Archana Ramasundaram was appointed as Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on February 1, 2016. With this appointment, she became the first woman to head a Paramilitary force.
• She has been appointed to the post till the date of her superannuation September 30, 2017, as per an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
• She is currently Director, National Crime Records Bureau.
• There are five Paramilitary forces i.e., SSB, CRPF, BSF, CISF and ITBP and none has ever had a woman Chief.

Durga Prasad/ KK Sharma

• IPS officers i.e., K. Durga Prasad and KK Sharma have been appointed as Director Generals of CRPF and BSF, respectively on February 1, 2016. They took over as the incumbent Chiefs of these forces retired at the end of February, 2016.
• Prasad, a 1981-batch IPS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, was in 2014 unceremoniously removed as Chief of the Special Protection Group during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Nepal to attend the SAARC summit.
• The SPG provides security to the Prime Minister, former Prime Ministers and their family members. He was in January. 2015 appointed as special Director General of the CRPF, the force entrusted with multiple duties in the internal security domain including, anti-naxal operations.
