He kept doing this for the next seven years until the end of the 2009 season when he retired. A report says that Patrick Sr. didn’t want his son to play football at first because of how rough the game can be. Instead, he wanted his son to play baseball.

The quarterback did take after his father and also played baseball. Patrick Mahomes threw a no-hitter in his senior year at Whitehouse High School. Because of this, he was one of the top prospects in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft.

The Detroit Tigers didn’t pick him until the 37th round. But he didn’t sign with the Tigers because he was committed to Texas Tech and loved football. Instead, he went on to have an amazing football career.

When Patrick had to decide whether to try out for the MLB draft or take a football scholarship to college, Randi was there for him the whole time and helped him make the right choice.

In 2021, Mahomes told TODAY, “At first, it was clear that we wanted to keep things private and keep her out of the public eye.” “As we started doing different things and she got a little bit older, being out and about, it almost became a burden to try to hide her all the time, and this coming season we want her to be at the games without having to worry about hiding her the whole time.”
