Niclas Fuellkrug: Bio/Wiki, Age, Net Worth, Instagram, Facts
Germany forward Niclas Fuellkrug, who scored the game-winning goal against Oman on Wednesday, missed his team’s first training session on Qatari soil due to a viral illness, the team announced on Saturday.
Germany practised on the pitch at the Al Shamal stadium in Qatar’s northern point ahead of their World Cup Group E opener against Japan on Wednesday. But the virus forced the 29-year-old Fuellkrug, who was a surprise selection to the squad after his remarkable Bundesliga run for Werder Bremen this season, to miss out.
The attacker, who has scored 10 goals in the Bundesliga this season, scored the winner on his Germany debut after coming on as a substitute in Wednesday’s 1-0 triumph.
He is seen as a much-needed addition to a club that has been lacking the skills and services that an out-and-out striker like Fuellkrug can provide to their game, particularly following the injuries to forwards Lukas Nmecha and Timo Werner. There were no other absences, with Thomas Mueller and Antonio Ruediger, both of whom did not play against Oman, returning to training after injuries.
Germany plays Spain in their second encounter on November 27 before concluding their Group E schedule against Costa Rica on December 1.

Club career
Füllkrug began his senior career with Werder Bremen’s reserves after coming through the club’s junior system.
On August 24, 2013, he signed a one-year loan agreement with SpVgg Greuther Fürth. On November 2, 2013, he scored four goals for his new team, including a 12-minute hat-trick, in a 6-2 away win over Erzgebirge Aue.
He had six goals in 18 games before suffering a ligament rupture in his right ankle in a 2-0 win over VfL Bochum, which was expected to keep him out for three to four weeks.
Füllkrug signed a “long-term” contract with 1. FC Nürnberg in 2014, with a reported tenure of three years. Werder Bremen has obtained a re-signing option for him for a fixed amount.
Füllkrug signed a four-year contract with Hannover 96 in July 2016. Nürnberg earned a reported transfer fee of €2 million, plus a further $1 million in potential bonuses.
He failed to score in his first eight Bundesliga games for Hannover 96, but he scored a hat-trick against Mainz 05 on 13 January 2018 as part of a run of goals that earned him a call-up to the German national team. In his first season with the club, he scored 14 goals.
Füllkrug agreed to an extension of his contract until 2022 on August 31, 2018. He was substituted off with an ankle injury against Eintracht Frankfurt on September 30, 2018, but he was able to participate in the following match, a 3-1 win against VfB Stuttgart, which moved Hannover up from last place in the league table. Despite suffering from knee pain, he played in a 2-2 away draw against Bayer Leverkusen and a 2-1 home defeat against FC Augsburg. He did not play in Hannover 96’s second-round DFB-Pokal loss on 30 October owing to knee difficulties stemming from an injury incurred in 2013. Manager André Breitenreiter indicated that the problem had plagued Füllkrug for years and that the discomfort was so bad prior to the cup game that Füllkrug did not feel “safe.” Füllkrug returned to training on November 20 after meeting with a specialist and started four consecutive games.
A few days after missing a match against SC Freiburg due to knee difficulties, it was stated that the injury was significant and that he would most likely be out for the remainder of the season. The ailment necessitated surgery and was determined to have cartilage damage to his right knee, the third of his career. He previously sustained cartilage damage at Werder Bremen (right knee, January 2013) and 1. FC Nürnberg (March 2015, left knee).
Füllkrug announced his return to old club Werder Bremen for the 2019-20 season in April 2019. The amount paid to Hannover 96 has been reported in various ways, with Deichstube reporting €6.3 million plus a possible 500,000 in bonuses and Sportbuzzer claiming 7 million. 1. FC Nürnberg benefited from the transfer as well, thanks to a 10% sell-on clause. He earned his second Bundesliga hat-trick against Schalke 04 on September 26, 2020.
International career
Füllkrug was called up to the German national squad for the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar in November 2022. He made his debut as a substitute in a friendly against Oman and scored.
He also became the oldest outfield player to make his debut for Germany in 20 years, at 29 years and 280 days after Martin Max, who made his debut for Germany in 2002 at the age of 33 years and 253 days.
