Kristen Saban Is Nick Saban’s Daughter

Kristen Saban, Nick Saban’s daughter, serves on the board of directors of Nick’s Kids Foundation.

She previously worked as a Marketing Director at Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham for five months until resigning in February 2016.

Kristen earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Sciences from The University of Alabama in 2013.

Nick’s daughter worked as a Hospitality and Events Graduate Assistant at the Festival de Cannes for three months after graduation. She planned and performed a number of events between May 2013 and the following three months.

She attended The Emerging Filmmakers Showcase, the American Pavilion 25th Anniversary Party, German Films, and the Lionsgate Hunger Games: Catching Fire events.

Her father, Nick, was a head coach at several universities, including Louisiana State University, the University of Toledo, and Michigan State University. As a result, she relocated with her father from Michigan State to LSU to the Miami Dolphins before settling in Alabama in 2007.

She graduated from Tuscaloosa Academy, where she was a cheerleader, in 2009 and went on to attend Alabama. Kristen worked as a Crimson Tide football programme student assistant and an events staffer at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Nick Saban’s attention has switched to his daughter, Kristen Saban Setas, after she recently posted a note on her Instagram story that appears to be directed at Alabama supporters.

She was also a popular subject on Twitter in 2015, when the rumour about her and Lane Kiffin took over the internet; she is no longer active on the social network.

Similarly, Kristen made headlines in 2012 when one of her sorority sisters, Sarah Grimes, sued her for brutally hitting her in a drunken brawl in 2010.

However, when Saban’s lawyers claimed that she acted in self-defense, a Tuscaloosa judge dismissed the lawsuit; the judge entered a summary ruling indicating that she had a right to stand her ground after being attacked.

Kristen Saban married the love of her life, Adam Setas, on May 30, 2015.

She married Adam Setas and held her reception at her father’s office, Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The couple married in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, with fireworks, and the newlyweds rode around Bryant-Denny Stadium in an old-school Rolls Royce.

Saban and Setas have been married for seven years, having exchanged wedding vows in 2015. Furthermore, the couple has been blessed with a beautiful child named James Nickolas.

Childhood and Adolescence

Nick Saban, Jr. was born on October 31, 1951 in Fairmont, West Virginia to Mary and Nick Lou Saban. His father owned a Gulf gas station and a Dairy Queen, and he also coached the Ida Mac Black Diamonds, a Pop Warner Youth League football club. He also has a sister named Dianna.

He attended Monongah High School before enrolling at Kent State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce in 1973. Later, in 1975, he received his Masters of Sports Administration from Kent State.

He was a defensive back for the Kent State Golden Flashes football team (1970-72) under coach Don James.

Career

Initially interested in a career in automobile sales, Nick Saban was hired as a graduate assistant by Kent State head coach Don James after graduating in 1973.

Between 1977 and 1987, he worked as an assistant coach in NCAA Division I-A at Syracuse, West Virginia, Ohio State, Navy, and Michigan State.

He was hired as the secondary coach for the Houston Oilers in 1988, his first NFL coaching role. He worked for Jerry Glanville for two seasons.

His first employment as a head coach came in 1989, when he was appointed by the University of Toledo. The Rockets finished the season 9-2 and were named co-champions of the 1990 Mid-American Conference.

He left Toledo in 1991 to become the defensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL) under head coach Bill Belichick. He stayed for four seasons, until 1994.

Saban subsequently returned to college coaching, taking over as head coach at Michigan State University. Between 1995 and 1999, he sought to rebuild a team that had not won a game since 1990. His final season with the Spartans was his most successful, with a 9-2 record that featured wins over Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State.

Nick Saban was the head coach of the LSU Tigers from 2000 to 2004. During his five seasons there, he led the Tigers to a 48-16 record and victories in two SEC championship games and the 2003 BCS National Championship Game.

In 2002, he co-wrote Tiger Turnaround: LSU’s Return to Football Glory with Sam King. The book featured an inside look at his first two years as head coach at LSU and how he led the Tigers back to the top of the Southeastern Conference.

After winning the BCS national championship, he co-wrote How Good Do You Want to Be? with Brian Curtis. Tips from a Champion on How to Lead and Succeed at Work and in Life The 2005 book provided real-life ideas for business and personal success.

After leading the LSU Tigers in 2005, he returned to the professional ranks as the head coach of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins. After two unsuccessful seasons, he accepted the offer to become Alabama’s 27th head coach.

When he joined in 2007, his salary for the next eight years made him one of the top paid football coaches (professional or collegiate) in the United States.

Professional Life

Saban has guided the Alabama Crimson Tide to 21 bowl game appearances with 15 wins, 9 SEC West titles, 8 SEC championships, and 6 national championships since taking over as head coach.

His sixth national championship with Alabama was also his seventh of his career, breaking Paul Bear Bryant’s prior record of six top-flight championships.

Since Saban took over, a number of players have been recognised for their on-field talent and achievements, with Mark Ingram Jr., Derrick Henry, DeVonta Smith, and Bryce Young winning the Heisman Trophy. Previously, no Alabama athlete had won the Heisman Trophy.

In addition, 71 players have been named First Squad All-Americans, and 113 former players from his team have been drafted into the National Football League.

Because of his success with the Crimson Tide, his contract as Alabama’s head coach has been extended until 2028.

Aside from coaching, he made a cameo appearance as himself in John Lee Hancock’s 2009 film The Blind Side.

Achievements and Awards

Nick Saban has twice received the Paul Bear Bryant Award, once in 2003 and again in 2020.

Aside from that, he has twice been named Walter Camp Coach of the Year (2008, 2018), AP College Football Coach of the Year (2003, 2008), and Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year (2003, 2008).

He has received the SEC Coach of the Year award five times (2003, 2008, 2009, 2016, 2020).

And, he has also received the Home Depot Coach of the Year, Sporting News Coach of the Year (both in 2008), Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year (2014), and George Munger Award (2016).

He was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.

Previously, his nine-foot-tall bronze statue joined those of Wallace Wade, Frank Thomas, Paul W. Bear Bryant, and Gene Stallings at the Walk of Champions Plaza outside Bryant-Denny Stadium in 2011. Coaches who have guided the Crimson Tide to a football national championship triumph are honoured on the plaza, according to school tradition.

Personal Life

Nick Saban and his wife Terry have two children, Nicholas and Kristen, and have been married since 1971. Their daughter-in-name law’s is Kelsé, and their son-in-name law’s is Adam Setas, and their grandchildren’s names are Amélie and James.

The Sabans are co-founders of the Nick’s Kids Foundation, which supports the needs of underprivileged children.
