Nicholas Scalzo: Who Is He? NYPD Cop Suspended For Punching 14-year Old Girl In Viral Video
Nicholas Scalzo, an NYPD officer, has been suspended without pay after a viral video showed him punching Kyonna Robinson, a 14-year-old girl.
Officer Nicholas Scalzo of the New York Police Department was recently suspended after a video of him repeatedly punching a 14-year-old girl in the head went viral online. Officers intervened in an after-school fight on Staten Island during the incident.
The cop can be seen punching the girl in the video, while another officer attempts to break up the fight. On Tuesday, around 2:45 p.m., a fight broke out near Edwin Markham Middle School.

Officers from the New York Police Department were reportedly at a foot post near Willowbrook Road and Forest Avenue when they intervened to break up a fight between the two girls.
An NYPD spokesman also issued a statement about the incident, saying:
“A fight broke out between two girls. We attempted to intervene, and it appears that one of the girls attempted to prevent us from intervening. They attempted to cuff one of the girls. And there was someone tugging at them.”
The teen, Kyonna Robinson, told the New York Post that she expected the cops to intervene and stop the fight, but the officers allegedly got involved as well:
“I jumped in, and the cops arrived, who were supposed to break it up, but the cops got involved in the fight.”
She also stated that the officer struck her 11 times after she struck him twice during a scuffle:
“Then everyone was just in handcuffs, including my sister, and I went up to her and asked the cops, ‘What are you doing?'” and he shoved me, and I hit him twice, and he hit me 11 times.”
14-Year-Old Girl Was Attacked In New York
The entire incident brings to mind the George Floyd case, in which Derek Chauvin, a 44-year-old white police officer, killed George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, on May 25, 2020 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The Mayor learned about the altercation on Tuesday night after watching an eight-second video clip on social media, according to New York Mayor Eric Adams, who addressed the incident during a news conference in Brooklyn on Wednesday.

Furthermore, the mayor stated that he was dissatisfied with what he saw and requested that Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell take strict action against the officers, which resulted in their suspension.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) posted on Twitter, “The NYPD was made aware of an incident on Staten Island last evening in which officers responded to a fight between a group of youths. The Internal Affairs Bureau is looking into those officers’ actions. One officer has been suspended at this time.”
Even New York City Council Member Kamillah M. Hanks condemned the NYPD officer’s attack and thanked the department for taking swift action against the officer. She took to Twitter and wrote, “Yesterday, at the dismissal of I.S. 51 middle school, a student was seen in an altercation with an NYPD officer.
I’d like to express my gratitude to the concerned community member who sent me the video of this incident.”
