Naseem Shah Biography

Husnain, 18, was born slightly about a year after Naseem. Naseem is regarded as one of the most promising quicks in international cricket, having recently lit up the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup.

Husnain, who was playing his second first-class game for Central Punjab, revealed that the Shah family had more than one electrifying fast. In a tie in Pakistan’s Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, he took his first wicket in spectacular fashion, bowling a short, crisp delivery that struck Balochistan’s Bilawal Iqbal on the glove.

The ball then flew up onto his helmet before gliding over to Tayyab Tahir in the gully. Iqbal walked away, his hand wringing in agony.

Private life

Naseem is from Mayar Jandool, a town in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province’s Lower Dir region.

He has two sisters and four brothers, one of whom is Hunain Shah, a fast bowler who plays at the U19 level.

Domestic Experience

On 1 September 2018, he made his first-class debut for Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited in the 2018-19 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

[15] On 16 October 2018, he made his List A debut for Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited in the 2018-19 Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup.

He was picked to Central Punjab’s squad for the 2019-20 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy tournament in September 2019. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) designated him one of six players to watch ahead of the 2019-20 National T20 Cup event in October 2019. On October 13, 2019, he made his Twenty20 debut for Central Punjab in the 2019-20 National T20 Cup.

On September 15, 2021, Naseem Shah grabbed two key wickets in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) final, assisting the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to their first CPL title.

Gloucestershire County Cricket Club signed him in January 2022 to participate in domestic events during the first half of the 2022 season in England. He was purchased by the Welsh Fire in April 2022 for the 2022 season of The Hundred, also in England. Shah, on the other hand, was sidelined for a month after suffering a shoulder injury in his debut match for Gloucestershire.

International career

He was picked to Pakistan’s Test team for the series against Australia in October 2019. He appeared in a three-day warm-up match for Pakistan against Australia A in November 2019. On November 21, 2019, he made his Test debut for Pakistan against Australia. He was picked to Pakistan’s Test team for the two-match series against Sri Lanka the following month. He recorded his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket in the second match. He became the youngest fast bowler, and the second-youngest bowler overall, to record a five-wicket haul in a Test match at the age of 16 years and 307 days.

He was chosen to Pakistan’s squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, but due to his strong start in Test cricket, he was dropped from the U19 squad. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) published a statement in January 2020 regarding Naseem’s removal from their U19 squad. They maintained that decision was for cricketing reasons, not age concerns, and that they had investigated and verified the ages of all cricketers eligible to participate for their U19 team.

On 9 February 2020, in the first Test against Bangladesh, he became the youngest bowler to take a Test hat-trick at the age of 16 years and 359 days. The PCB signed him to a central contract in May 2020, ahead of the 2020-21 season.

He was picked to a 29-man squad for Pakistan’s travel to England during the COVID-19 pandemic in June 2020. He was named to Pakistan’s 20-man team for the Test matches against England in July. On August 21, he was picked to Pakistan’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad, also for the England series. He was picked to Pakistan’s 35-man squad for their tour of New Zealand in November 2020. He was picked to the Pakistan Shaheens team for their tour of Sri Lanka in October 2021.

He was picked to Pakistan’s ODI team for their tour of the Netherlands in August 2022. He made his ODI debut for Pakistan against the Netherlands on August 16, 2022. Later that month, he was picked to Pakistan’s T20I team for the Asia Cup in 2022. On August 28, 2022, he made his T20I debut against India.

On September 7, 2022, Naseem Shah made history by hitting two sixes in the penultimate over against Afghanistan, one after the other, with no more wickets in hand, qualifying Pakistan for the Asia Cup’22 finals.

1. The ninth-youngest player to make his Test debut

Naseem Shah is another quick bowler on the rise in Pakistan. In 2019, he earned his international debut against Australia at the age of 16. With his debut, he became the ninth-youngest player in Test history.

2. Youngest Test Bowler To Win A Hattrick

He became the youngest bowler to claim a Test hat-trick when he bowled Najmul Hossain in the Bangladesh series. Shah is a promising newcomer worth keeping an eye on.
