Biography Of Nadine Broersen
Nadine Broersen (born April 29, 1990) is a Dutch track and field athlete who specializes in heptathlon and high jump. She currently holds the national high jump record of 1.94m. She won the World Indoor Pentathlon Championships in 2014.
Also, she competes for the Breda track and field club AV Sprint. She had to withdraw from the 2015 European Athletics Indoor Championships after injuring her ankle at the Dutch national indoor championships the year before.
Nonetheless, she finished third in Gotzis and fourth in Beijing at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics hepthatlon (China). She was in second place overall before the final 800 m event after a strong javelin throw.
Early Career
Broersen has been a member of the Dutch national combined events squad since 2009 and trains at the Olympic Training Center in Papendal, the Netherlands. Despite her fear of the 800m, she was advised to specialize in the heptathlon because she was strong in three key events: 100m hurdles, high jump, and javelin throw.
Broersen was selected to compete in the women’s heptathlon event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London after posting respectable results at the 2009 European Athletics Junior Championships, the 2011 European Athletics U23 Championships, and an eighth-place finish at the prestigious Hypo-Meeting in Gotzis (Austria) in 2012.
She was on track for a medal in the pentathlon at the 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Gothenburg (Sweden), but was disqualified for a lane violation in the final event, the 800m. Also, she did, however, finish second at the Hypo-Meeting, trailing Canadian Brianne Theisen. She competed in the women’s heptathlon at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics in Moscow (Russia), but got off to a bad start by falling over the last hurdle in the 100 m hurdles.
However, in the later disciplines, she maintained her strong performance and finished 10th, with her teammate Dafne Schippers finishing third. She would have finished on the podium if she hadn’t fallen at the hurdles.

Anouk Vetter, her teammate, won the heptathlon with a new national record of 6626 points. She came in 13th place at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Nonetheless, she made up for her disappointing 2016 season by winning the heptathlon at the Décastar in Talence (France).
