Taremi signed a two-year contract with Portuguese football club Rio Ave on July 23, 2019. Taremi scored a hat-trick in his maiden Primeira Liga start for the club against C.D. Aves on August 23, 2019. Taremi won three penalties in Rio Ave’s 3-2 win over Sporting CP on August 31st, all on fouls committed by Sebastián Coates.

Taremi signed an 18-month contract with Qatari club Al-Gharafa on January 8, 2018. He scored his first goal in the 2018 AFC Champions League opener against UAE’s Al Jazira.
