Taremi signed a two-year contract with Portuguese football club Rio Ave on July 23, 2019. Taremi scored a hat-trick in his maiden Primeira Liga start for the club against C.D. Aves on August 23, 2019. Taremi won three penalties in Rio Ave’s 3-2 win over Sporting CP on August 31st, all on fouls committed by Sebastián Coates.

2018

Taremi signed an 18-month contract with Qatari club Al-Gharafa on January 8, 2018. He scored his first goal in the 2018 AFC Champions League opener against UAE’s Al Jazira. Taremi scored his first goal in the Qatar League on February 16 against Al Kharaitiyat SC. On February 19, he scored a brace against Iranian team Tractor Sazi on the second match day of the AFC Champions League.
