Who Is Forensic Expert Matthew Noedel? Bryan Kohberger defense team hires him for crime scene examination
Bryan Kohberger’s defence team has hired a crime scene reconstruction expert Matthew Noedel, who has been accused of fatally stabbing four University of Idaho students – Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21 – in an off-campus house on November 13, 2022.
On Tuesday, January 3, 2023, forensic expert Matthew Noedel examined the scene of the Moscow, Idaho massacre for Bryan Kohberger’s defence team.
Bryan Kohberger was arrested on December 30, 2022, for the murders of four University of Idaho students who were found stabbed to death in their King’s Road Home.
While authorities have not revealed the suspect’s connection to his alleged victims, he has reportedly been linked to the crime scene via DNA evidence.

Who Is The Forensics Expert Brought In By Bryan Kohberger’s Defense Team?
According to his LinkedIn profile, Matthew Noedel is a forensics expert based in Puyallup, Washington. He has three decades of experience in his field, including shooting reconstruction, crime scene reconstruction, and bloodstain pattern analysis, as the owner of Noedel Scientific.
And, According to his website, he focuses on bloodstain pattern analysis, which may be important in the Idaho massacre because extensive bloodstains were discovered on the walls of the Moscow home.
According to Noedel’s website, the evaluation and examination of bloodstains at crime scenes is frequently overlooked and misunderstood. It goes on to say that bloodstains can appear on anything from clothing to walls, behind baseboards, and even under carpets. It goes on to say:
“Bloodstains can appear on clothing, walls, behind baseboards, or beneath carpets. Bloodstains are not to be taken lightly.”

Noedel has served as a witness in several cases and as a consultant for several organisations as a result of his expertise. He has also appeared on television on occasion.
According to Williams:
“The fact that Bryan Kohberger’s attorney has hired private investigators to go through the crime scene leads me to believe that he will undoubtedly mount a strong defence.”
While authorities have not spoken about the connection between Bryan Kohberger and his alleged victims. Investigators matched his DNA to a sample submitted by a close family member to a genealogy testing website, according to Yahoo.
The case is still being investigated by police.

According to his website, Noedel has over 29 years of forensic experience, with specialties in crime scene reconstruction, bloodstain pattern analysis, and shooting reconstruction. According to his website, when called to testify as an expert in court, he provides 2D and 3D models of his findings.

They can also “analyse 3D renderings captured by law enforcement agencies and other entities or actually go on scene and collect 3D renderings,” according to the document.
