Malik JonMikal Beasley, an American professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association, was born on November 26, 1996. (NBA). During his one season of eligibility while attending Saint Francis School in Alpharetta, Georgia, he played college basketball for the Florida State Seminoles. Beasley was chosen 19th overall by the Denver Nuggets in the 2016 NBA Draft. After three and a half seasons with the Nuggets, he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. By the middle of 2021, Beasley had served 78 days of a 120-day prison sentence for a firearm-brandishing incident.

Beasley attended Saint Francis School in Alpharetta, Georgia. As a senior, he averaged 22.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks and was nominated to the All-State Class A First Team. In addition, he was selected Georgia’s Class 1A Player of the Year. His high school classmates included Jacob Davis, Kaiser Gates, and Kobi Simmons (Birmingham–Southern College football player).
Beasley was ranked a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, and he picked Florida State over offers from UConn, UCLA, Wake Forest, Oregon, and other colleges.

Malik Beasley’s College Career
As a freshman at Florida State in 2015-16, Beasley averaged 15.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 29.8 minutes per game over 34 games.
He was later named to the Atlantic Coast Conference’s all-freshman team after finishing eighth in the conference in free throw percentage (.813) and tenth in field goal percentage (.471).
On March 21, 2016, Beasley declared his intention to join the NBA draught, skipping his remaining three years of NCAA eligibility.
Basketball career with the Denver Nuggets (2016–2020)
Beasley underwent surgery after the 2015-16 season to treat a stress fracture in his right leg.
As a result, he did not participate in pre-draft workouts.
Despite experiencing health difficulties prior to the 2016 NBA draught, Beasley was selected 19th overall by the Denver Nuggets.
On August 9, 2016, he signed his rookie scale contract with the Nuggets. Beasley appeared in just two of the Nuggets’ first seven games this season, appearing for a total of less than eight minutes and going scoreless in each. On November 10, 2016, he had his greatest game, scoring 12 points in 15 minutes off the bench against the Golden State Warriors in a 125-101 loss. Timberwolves of the Twin Cities (2020–2022)
On February 5, 2020, Beasley was part of a 12-player, four-team trade that sent him to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
After being traded to Minnesota, Beasley was given the starting spot, and his scoring output increased considerably. In 14 games with the Timberwolves, he started every game and averaged 20.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.
Beasley allegedly re-signed with the Timberwolves on November 27, 2020, to a four-year, $60 million contract.
Beasley was sentenced to a 12-game suspension on February 25, 2021, as a result of a guilty plea in a criminal matter. At the time of the suspension, he was averaging a career-high 20.5 points per game and shooting 40% from beyond the arc. The Timberwolves finished with the league’s worst record of 7-26.
On March 5, 2022, Beasley broke Kevin Love’s Timberwolves franchise record of 190 three-pointers made in a season.
Four days later, he scored 33 points and made a franchise-high 11 three-pointers in a 132-102 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. On April 16, Beasley scored 23 points in Game 1 of the first round of the 2022 playoffs, a 130-117 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.
Jazz for Mormons (2022–present)
On July 6, 2022, Beasley was traded to the Utah Jazz along with Rudy Gobert, Patrick Beverley, Jarryd Vanderbilt, Leandro Bolmaro, Walker Kessler’s draught rights, four additional first-round picks, and a pick swap.
Malik Beasley’s Personal Life
Beasley is the son of Michael Beasley. His father played basketball professionally in Chile, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.

Malik Beasley’s Criminal Offense
On September 27, 2020, Beasley was arrested on accusations of carrying marijuana, concealing stolen things, and displaying a gun.
He was first released from police custody, but charges stemming from the event were later filed against him in Hennepin County. Beasley pled guilty to the felony charge of making a threat of violence in December 2020.
As a result, he was sentenced to 120 days in prison, to begin following the 2020-21 NBA season.
After spending 78 days of his 120-day sentence, Beasley was released in August 2021.
