Narayanam Nageswara Rao NCS Sugars Ltd – Journey

Narayanam Nageswara Rao, a post graduate began his journey way back in the 1980’s starting from his family business and then taking off individually into the trading of molasses, and then export of the same and subsequently set up liquid storage terminal tanks at kakinada and karwar capable of storing all types of liquid commodities including bitumen. You will get the journey of Nageswara Rao – NCS Sugars Ltd.

In the year 2001 when the state government put to auction some loss making co-operative sugar mills which were beyond revival, Narayanam Nageswara Rao, a multi-faceted entrepreneur, with the great acumen,   boldly ventured into the sugar industry and picked up the 2500 tcd, old dilapidated sugar mill located in bobbili and converted / expanded it into a 5000 tcd modern sugar mill and further went on to build a 20 mw co-generation power plant ( with a multi fuel boiler) alongside the sugar mill to augment the power needs of the villages located in the backward district of vizianagaram. The surplus power was sold to the power deficit state of andhra pradesh. Sugar industry being a seasonal one that runs hardly for 4 months in a year depending upon the cane availability and the visionary that he is, to keep the sugarmill engaged throughout the year, once again took off into the path / passage that was never tread on. That was how, ncs sugars ltd became a pioneer in the country to import brazilian raw sugar under advance licence mechanism that was processed / refined into white sugar and re-exported to various south asian countries thereby earning lots of foreign exchange to the country’s exchequer besides providing value added services.

Narayanam Nageswara Rao then took off into the csr (corporate social responsibility) by adopting 4 adjacent villages and continually providing 24 hour free drinking water ( by constructing a huge overhead tank in the respective villages), providing free power by erecting poles and laying the conductor cables, providing scholarships to the children in the villages, conducting weekly medical camps just to name a few.

The great lord venkateswara devotee that he is, so Narayanam Nageswara Rao constructed a massive “Balaji Temple” in the precincts of the sugar mill called “Lakshmi Tirumala”. Since the temple astutely follows all rituals that take place in tirumala,   large number of devotees throng the Temple from surrounding villages. The main deity is just a replica of the one we see in Tirumala Temple. Firm believer in the maxim “Maanavaseva is Maadhavaseva”.
