Early Life Of Jeff Driskel

Because Matthew Stafford will miss his first NFL start since Jan. 2, 2011, due to a back injury, the Detroit Lions will start former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jeff Driskel against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

In the Lions’ 20-13 loss, he finished 27-of-46 for 269 yards, a touchdown, and an interception, with 37 yards rushing on five carries.

Last season, he started five games for the Bengals while Andy Dalton was injured, completing 59.7 percent of his passes for 1,003 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also had 130 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

In September, the Lions signed Driskel and released Josh Johnson. Driskel was waived from the Reserve/Injured list by the Bengals in September as part of an injury settlement.

2020

Driskel signed a two-year contract with the Denver Broncos on March 27, 2020.

2019

On August 31, 2019, Driskel was placed on injured reserve. On September 11, he was released from injured reserve as part of an injury settlement.

The Detroit Lions signed Driskel on September 17, 2019. Driskel made his first start for the Lions against the Chicago Bears on November 10, 2019, after Matthew Stafford was ruled out due to injury.

He finished the Week 10 game with 269 yards passing, one touchdown, and one interception as the Lions were defeated 13-20. Driskel threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown in a 35-27 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 11.
