His performances piqued the interest of another Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais, who signed the winger for €20 million ahead of the 2017/18 season. The Senegalese winger was at his peak at Rennes, where he scored 18 goals and assisted on 16 others in 77 games.
On April 27, 2019, Rennes defeated French powerhouse PSG 6-5 in a penalty shootout to win the Coupe de France; the Senegalese player contributed by shooting his team’s sixth penalty, before PSG’s Christopher Nkunku missed to give Rennes the win. As a result, he was enrolled in football lessons. He began at the same Academy as Sadio Mane, where he acquired the fundamentals of his professional career at AS Generation Foot. He assisted AS Generation Foot in moving from the second tier to the top league of the Senegalese League. However, he was most interested in playing in Europe.
In 2016, he signed his first professional deal as a football player, with FC Metz.
