George and Chastity began dating after meeting at a basketball game at Western Kentucky University’s E.A. Diddle Arena.

Chastity attended the Sweet Sixteen Championship with her high school team in 2008.

They have been together since high school and are high school sweethearts. He was drawn to his soon-to-be future spouse while watching Gooch in court from the audience. Fant stated that there was something about Gooch that he admired and later fell in love with.

After being impressed by Gooch, he attempted to locate her phone number and text her; fortunately for both of them, he obtained her phone number from her cousin, with whom Fant shared a mutual friend. Two of them then texted each other, which resulted in a movie date.

The New York Jets player took Gooch to meet his parents, realising this could be more than just a high school romance. It was also the point at which Gooch realised their relationship was taking a serious turn. Fant’s mother was immediately taken with Gooch, who thought the girl her son brought home was stunning.

Gooch was excited and nervous when Fant proposed to her on her birthday at Lampkin Park, and she could see herself spending the rest of her life with him.

Fant signed a three-year, $30 million contract with the New York Jets on April 23, 2020.

2019

In 2019, Fant served as a hybrid lineman for the Seahawks. He also served as the team’s primary backup offensive tackle, filling in for an injured Duane Brown for much of the season.

Fant received attention on December 2, 2019, during a Monday Night Football game against the Minnesota Vikings, when he helped the Seahawks rush for a season-high 218 yards in a 37-30 win.

He was listed as an eligible receiver on 42 plays and lined up at multiple positions along the line.

2018

After rookie tight end Will Dissly was injured in a game against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4, Fant began to play an offensive tackle/tight end hybrid role. He’d play as a sixth offensive lineman, either inside or outside, and declare himself an eligible receiver.

Fant thrived in his new role, assisting the Seahawks to the league’s top-ranked rushing offence in 2018.

Fant made his NFL debut on December 10, 2018, in a week 13 Monday Night Football game against the Minnesota Vikings, catching a 9-yard pass from quarterback Russell Wilson.

2017

Fant tore his ACL in the second game of the 2017 preseason and was ruled out for the season. On September 2, 2017, he was placed on injured reserve.

Fant is married to Chastity Gooch, a former Western Kentucky women’s basketball player, and they have two children. Jayden Fant, his first child, was born shortly before his workout with the Seahawks, and his second child was born in the spring of 2017.

2016

Fant was expected to go undrafted after only one year of collegiate football experience at tight end. Fant was not one of the 15 collegiate tight ends invited to the NFL Scouting Combine due to his lack of experience. He attended Western Kentucky’s pro day on March 29, 2016, alongside Brandon Doughty, Tyler Higbee, Prince Charles Iworah, and 11 other prospects.

During WKU’s pro day, Fant was listed as an offensive lineman and weighed 296 pounds, which was 26 pounds more than his season weight of 270 pounds. His athletic ability impressed Trent Kirchner, the Seahawks’ co-director of player personnel, and he worked out at a variety of positions, including linebacker, defensive end, defensive tackle, tight end, and offensive tackle.

He made his third career start against the New England Patriots on November 13, 2016, and was credited with not committing a single assignment error in the Seahawks’ 31-24 victory.

And, he eventually performed well enough in his first four career starts to keep his job at left tackle after Sowell returned from injury. He finished his rookie season as the Seattle Seahawks’ starting left tackle for the final ten games of the season, appearing in 14 games with ten starts.

2015

Friends and coaches urged Fant to join the Hilltoppers football team during his first four years at Western Kentucky, but he refused. In the spring of 2015, he received letters from multiple NFL teams asking if he was interested in playing professional football, but he ignored the letters and threw them away.

Fant chose football over basketball after weighing his options of playing basketball in Poland or pursuing a football career.

He chose football over caring for his wife and child. Western Kentucky tight ends Tyler Higbee and Devin Scott assisted him in learning the tight end position, as did tight ends coach Ryan Wallace. He increased his weight from 250 to 296 pounds for football.

Fant also stated that he watched numerous tapes of tight end Jimmy Graham, another basketball-to-football convert.

2011

He appeared in 31 games with 24 starts as a freshman in 2011-2012. And, he played 26. He averaged 10.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 37 blocks, and 29 steals per game. He also had the highest field goal percentage on the team (.476). His 321 points ranked seventh all-time in school history for a freshman. In 2012-2013, he averaged 12.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game as a sophomore. Also, he went 163-for-338 from the field, shooting 48.2%. He was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Tournament team after averaging 13.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

He was named to the Sun Belt’s third team. As a junior in 2013-2014, he averaged 13.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. For the second consecutive season, he finished second on the team in scoring and led the team in rebounding. In terms of rebounding, he finished seventh in the conference. He led the team in field goal percentage (.530), ranking fifth in the conference. He was named to the third team of the Sun Belt Conference.

In 2014-2015, he led the team in rebounding with 8.4 rebounds per game, good for third in the conference. He set a career high with 13.8 points per game. He had the second-most double-doubles in Conference USA with 12. Also, he was named second-team All-Conference for the third consecutive season.

1992

George Fant (born July 19, 1992) is an American football offensive tackle for the National Football League’s New York Jets (NFL). He attended Western Kentucky for college basketball and football before being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Seahawks in 2016.

Fant was used as a hybrid tight end on tackle-eligible plays for Seattle beginning in 2018.
