Netflix has confirmed that the first season of Freeridge will premiere on September 27, 2021.
The film will be released on February 2, 2023. This “On My Block” spinoff follows a fresh group of friends who may or may not have unleashed a fatal curse, launching them on an extraordinary journey.

Freeridge (Season 1): Review Of Episode 7 “Karmic Coincidence”
Are you going to hire Rusty to be Gloria’s girlfriend? This is a familiar stereotype that turns the show into a melodrama rather than a pleasant teen comedy-drama.
Ines’ acts remain infantile to the point of being irritating. If she had been more complex and relatable, the episode would have been a lot more interesting.
Cam’s story appears to be leading toward a conflict between Andre and Demi, which I’m not thrilled about. It seems like a waste given everything he and Demi went through to get together.
Mariluna, on the other hand, is a completely insane character, which I like. Her tumultuous energy is distinct and delightful, and her past is also intriguing. It’s good to see her and Gloria form the beginnings of what appears to be a fun friendship.
This is one of the most original components of the plot, reminding me of the first few episodes.
Gloria’s bent arm hang was also as spectacular as imagined, and it’s fantastic to see her and Rusty work through their differences. Having said that, I am missing more of the entire group as a whole. Now for the grand finish!
Freeridge (Season 1): WATCH TRAILER
Although the premise makes the series sound slightly scary and serious, the teaser demonstrates that Freeridge will be a lighthearted, hilarious success that fans will devour in no time.
Freeridge: Will There Be Season 2?
Assuming no one has cursed the program, we can anticipate it to return in the first part of 2024. But it is mainly dependent on when, if at all, the renewal announcement is made.
Despite all of Netflix’s recent cancellations, a renewal is plausible because a half-hour comedy show like this is far cheaper to produce than the longer genre fare that usually gets cancelled first. Furthermore, the show is a spinoff from an earlier Netflix hit, which speaks well for Freeridge’s chances.
Freeridge (Season 1): Plot Synopsis
Freeridge centers on two young sisters, Gloria (Abbott Elementary’s Keyla Mejia) and Ines (Team Kaylie’s Bryana Salaz), who live in a Los Angeles inner-city area. That town is Freeridge, which has the same setting as On My Block: a difficult neighborhood with tough students.
The sisters start the act by fighting at school, using closed-fist punches, low strikes, and spitting in each other’s faces.
We don’t know why they fight, but it happens frequently enough that they pay their uncle Tio (J.R. Villarreal) $100 per call to pretend to be their father and intercept school calls.
Javier, Gloria and Ines’ single father, raises them (Jean Paul San Pedro). The family lost their mother to cancer, which she contracted while pregnant with Ines.
They have a strong network of pals, including Cameron (Tenzing Norgay Trainor from Boo Bitch), who feels suffocated by his partner, Andrew (Zaire Adams).
He is also conflicted about his affections for his best friend, Demi (L.A.’s Finest Ciara Riley Wilson), and the feelings are mutual.
The group, on the other hand, despises Ines because she is so self-centered. Demi and Cameron persuade Gloria to tell Ines they can no longer be friends, but Javier introduces them to his new girlfriend, bringing the sisters together.
Freeridge (Season 1): Ending Explained
- On Gloria’s advise, Mariluna arranges a Thanksgiving dinner party at the end of Season 1 and invites her friends and family members.
- The elderly lady revealed that she was lonely by herself, which was why she followed the teens about and even hired a room in their home.
- Mariluna now meets all of Gloria’s acquaintances, as well as her sole living relatives, Marisol’s son and daughter-in-law, who are Gloria’s neighbors, during this gathering.
- Marisol and her companion had discovered the money and created a map to get there. However, as the previous episode appears to imply, this money was formerly possessed or desired by a local crime gang.
- This man and his fellow gang member drive up to Mariluna’s house towards the end of “Freeridge” episode 8 and wait for her to come out.
- When she does, they believe she is Marisol, the woman who defrauded them and proceed to face her. As the two guys do so, Mariluna tries to persuade them that she is simply Marisol’s twin sister and has no knowledge of money.
- The woman then pulls out a gun to prove that she is armed, but the criminals are irritated and shoot her. Cinnamon’s third and final premonition likewise comes true, as one sister becomes the reason for the other’s downfall, and one of them dies.
- This warning, however, was not intended for Gloria and Ines, but for Marisol and Mariluna.
- Mariluna had collected Gloria, Ines, Cam, Demi, and Rusty in a room before leaving the house to disclose a great surprise. Because the woman was always fond of riddles and pranks, she immediately offered the adolescents a hefty sum of one million dollars.
- While the adolescents are immediately pleased, Mariluna offers them a second option: if they can spend the entire amount in three months, she will give them a prize of ten million dollars.
- The only condition was that the money could not be used on items or products that they could keep.
- Mariluna then exits the room and the house to see off some of her guests, promising to return and sign the check for them. She never returns, however, since she is killed by the criminals, and what happens to the money is unknown.
- This sum may have been used to treat Javier’s cancer, as the father previously revealed to his daughters that he did not have enough money to get himself treated for long.
- His cancer had also become more dangerous, and Gloria most likely considered her father’s therapy as well, as this would precisely help them get the ten million three months later.
- Perhaps the entire situation, including whether Javier survives his sickness, will be addressed in the second season of “Freeridge,” if one ever exists.
