Freeridge is an original coming-of-age comedy series produced by Netflix.
It is a spin-off of the series On My Block and follows a group of friends as they cope with the ups and downs of friendship, relationships, and sisterhood while being haunted by a box that formerly belonged to a deceased woman.
The reason that Freeridge is a watchable show is that it is amusing, it features lovable people, and it doesn’t try too hard.
It does have a few too many instances in which I am unable to determine whether a joke is a reference to the original show that I am failing to comprehend or whether it is simply failing to land because I am too preoccupied trying to determine whether it is a reference to the original show or not.
This occurs far too frequently. However, from one conclusion of each episode to the beginning of the next, there are a lot of funny scenes that will make you laugh out loud. In their own unique ways, each of the characters possesses a lively and engaging personality.

Freeridge (Season 1): Review Of Episode 6 “Revenge”
- This one had all the hallmarks of a typical episode around the halfway point, the kind that features a lot of chitchat but doesn’t advance the plot too much.
- Demi and Cam each offer their interpretations of what happened, but Andre’s anger is warranted, and it’s difficult to find fault with any of his actions in this episode.
- However, Ines’s position is far simpler to argue against. I get that she despises being spoken to or treated in a manner that is more appropriate for a child, but she is reacting to that by acting out…like a child.
- It’s something that happens all the time, which makes it hard to empathize with the situation. Because of the creativity displayed in the first few episodes, I had high hopes that Ines’ path would be a little bit more unconventional.
- The fact that Javier’s disease is in a more advanced stage significantly raises the stakes, but I’m unsure whether or not this will be beneficial to the program.
- In the event that they decide to pursue it further, the show will need to approach his illness and/or death with extreme sensitivity.
- It’s all too common for comedic dramas like this one to wind up glossing over serious issues in an unconvincing manner.
- And there’s one more thing: I’m not sure that ramping up the stakes was necessary at all given that the narrative has enough momentum to carry it through the rest of the season.
- It’s a shame that the cursed box and Mariluna haven’t made much progress, but it is what it is.
- Now as we’re getting close to the end of the first season, we still have no clue about who this woman is or what she wants.
- In the midst of all the drama, I find myself longing for the magical realism. Despite this, Gloria’s decision to spend more time outside lays the stage for an exciting conclusion to the season.
Freeridge (Season 1): What Is It All About?
Fans were originally taken aback when they learned that the hit sitcom On My Block was going to be cancelled after airing its fourth and final season because the show had been such a huge success.
But none of us need feel too sorry for ourselves because the people behind the show weren’t quite finished with Freeridge.
Freeridge is a film that follows a new group of friends who may or may not have unleashed a fatal curse, which in turn kicks off an exciting journey. The film is named after the imaginary neighborhood in Los Angeles where On My Block takes place.
It is predicted that it will bring a significant amount of misfortune into their life, but even with the typical challenges that come along with being teenagers, will they be able to deal with it?

Freeridge (Season 1): Total Episodes
In total, there will be eight episodes included in the first season of Freeridge.
It is anticipated that each of the eight episodes will be somewhere in the neighborhood of thirty minutes, which means that there will be approximately four hours worth of content for viewers to explore.
On top of that, all of the episodes will be released in one “binge-friendly” bundle, which will allow fans to watch the show at their own pace rather than having to wait weekly or for a part 2 as we’ve seen with a number of Netflix shows in recent times. This is something that has been happening with a number of Netflix shows recently.
Netflix has not disclosed any information regarding the continuation of the Freeridge series beyond the first season.
This should not come as much of a surprise given that the streaming service frequently considers viewership statistics prior to making a choice.
Given that the original On My Block aired for a total of four seasons throughout the course of its run, the new Freeridge spin-off is in good shape to follow in its footsteps. However, given Netflix’s recent pattern of canceling shows, it is impossible to predict what the future may contain.
Freeridge (Season 1): Cast Details
The first four cast members have been revealed, and of those, two are familiar faces from previous iterations of the show.
Both Keyla Monterroso Mejia and Shiv Pai made cameo appearances in the season four finale of On My Block, in which they dropped hints regarding Freeridge.
Both Keyla and Shiv have appeared in the past on other shows; Keyla on Curb Your Enthusiasm and Shiv on Iron Fist, both of which are available on Netflix.
The leading friendship group will also include Bryana Salaz, who rose to prominence after competing on the seventh season of The Voice in the United States, and Ciara Riley Wilson, who appeared on LA’s Finest.
There has been no mention of any original characters appearing in the show, but given that the plot takes place in the same imaginary neighborhood in Los Angeles as On My Block, we wouldn’t rule out the potential of some cameo appearances.
Freeridge (Season 1): Filming Locations Explored!
The young adult show that is available on Netflix takes place in a section of the city of Los Angeles known as Freeridge.
It can be found in the South Central region of the country. The creators of the show came up with the idea for a made-up town called Freeridge specifically for the show. Where exactly did they film the series?
Filming for the spinoff series took place in Los Angeles, California, just like it did for the original, On My Block. However, the specific site of the filming is yet unknown.
Based on the photographs that were made public after production, it is possible to deduce that some of the episodes of the show were shot in Burbank, California.
This city was rumored to be the location of filming for the first season of the series On My Block.
Since Freeridge takes place in the same world as On My Block and even in the same imaginary neighborhood as the first series, it is possible that filming for Freeridge took place in Burbank.
In addition to Burbank, it is anticipated that filming for the series took place all around the city, in a variety of areas, streets, and neighborhoods.
Is Freeridge A Real Place?
On My Block is established to take place within the city of Los Angeles, specifically within the community of Freeridge, which is situated in the South Central region of the city.
The show has established that Hispanics and African-Americans live in this fictitious neighborhood. However, the area itself does not exist in real life.
The Santos and the Prophets are two gangs that operate in the same neighborhood and compete against one another in the show.
