Wife of EJ Harden Harnden: Meet Rachelle Harnden
After four years of marriage, EJ Harnden’s wife Rachelle Harnden gave birth to a baby girl Brooklyn in 2015.
Brooklyn, their first child, was born on June 10, 2015. Rachelle’s pregnancy was announced in December 2014 via an Instagram post by the expecting couple. They posted a photo of themselves standing side by side, holding balloons with the words Expected to Pop and June 2015 written on them. And with their free hand, they held an ultrasound image together.
The caption, “Can’t wait to meet our little baby,” suggested that the couple couldn’t wait to meet their little munchkin.
Brooklyn was given the name Brooklyn Rachelle Harnden in honour of her mother.
When Brooklyn was born, proud Papa Harnden took to Twitter to share his experience witnessing her birth. EJ, overjoyed, wrote, “She cried, and I cried with her – best day of my life – Brooklyn, welcome! Rachelle Harnden, you are our treasure.”
The Olympic gold medalist has never shied away from expressing his joy at becoming a father. He had a very low-key photoshoot with Maddy Bee with his infant daughter, which beautifully captures EJ and his vulnerabilities as a parent. The photo was taken just before Brooklyn poop all over the new father.
Brooklyn turned seven this month in June. EJ, Brooklyn’s proud papa, posted a photo of them on her sixth birthday, expressing how incredible it has been to see her grow and learn so much from her. “My little girl is six today – Such an incredible experience watching her grow as she teaches me as much as I try and help/support her,” the caption read.
Biography of E. J. Harnden
Eric “E. J.” Harnden, Jr. (born April 14, 1983) is a curler from Canada. He is currently the second stone thrower for Canadian champion Brad Jacobs’ rink. The team won a gold medal for Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Harnden is the son of Eric Harnden, Sr., a three-time Northern Ontario champion. Harnden was a junior skip before joining forces with his father for the 2007-08 season as his third. The team won the Dominion Northern Ontario Men’s Curling Championship that season, and would go on to represent Northern Ontario at the 2008 Tim Hortons Brier.
Career Life
The team would have a disappointing Brier, finishing 3-8. Harnden joined forces with Brad Jacobs after the season and has played with Jacobs ever since. From 2008 to 2011, he played third for the team, and then second since 2012, when Ryan Fry joined the team. The team lost in the 2009 Northern Ontario final to Mike Jakubo in their first season together.
The following season would be a lot better. The team competed in one Grand Slam, the 2012 The National, Harnden’s first. The team had a 0-5 record. However, the team did win the Dominion Northern Ontario Provincial Men’s Championship in 2010 and had a fantastic Brier season that year.
The team finished second after the round robin with a 9-2 record at the 2010 Tim Hortons Brier. They lost both of their playoff games, however, and would have to settle for a bronze medal.
