Shanna Washington, who was only 16 when she became pregnant with Dezmond, gave birth to him in the Arkansas town of Morrilton.
Shanna, a single mother, was concerned about Dezmond’s well-being and did everything she could to provide him with a variety of options that would allow them to stay in their current living situation.
The family eventually relocated to Los Angeles, California, where Dezmond enrolled as a student at Blair High school in Pasadena, also located in the state of California.
Dez played 31 video games during his junior year, averaging 20.6 factors per game. In total, he scored 59 points in those games.
As a result, he was named the John R. Wooden Player of the Year by the California Interscholastic Federation-Southern Section division. This award is given annually to the player who best exemplifies the game’s ideals.
Dezmond joined the ELAC Huskies after graduating from high school and played guard and forward for the team.
While attending a community college in California, the basketball player played in a total of 29 games and was a member of eight different conferences.
During the 2021-2022 season, he played 465 minutes and averaged 10.1 points and 4.0 rebounds in each game he appeared in.

Damani has transferred to Texas A&M University-Texarkana after his time with the ELAC Huskies. The institute is part of the NCAA Division II circuit, allowing the athlete to resume his or her athletic career.
