When Ashil was in high school, he became interested in volleyball. She began playing volleyball in Junior High, and her passion for the sport blossomed. As a result, she continued to participate in the sport during her collegiate career.
Bellinger was a four-year varsity volleyball letterman. She also received a scholarship to play college volleyball at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California, where she started for two seasons.

He attended Hamilton High School in Chandler and was a member of the Chandler, Arizona Little League World Series squad in 2007. In 2013, he was also named to the Rawlings-Perfect Game 2nd Squad All-American team. Cody Bellinger was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the fourth round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft on June 13, 2013.
