The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts this exam for recruitment of posts in ministries, departments and organisations of the Government of India. The complete name of this exam is SSC CGL: Staff Selection Commission – Combined Graduate Level Examination. Syllabus and Pattern for SSC CGL 2018
The syllabus for this exam has five main sections. These sections are English, General Knowledge, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning.
So, there are exam conducted in four different tiers.
- Tier I
This is also known as Preliminary exam. The syllabus and exam pattern for Tier I has been given in the next section. Based on the results of Tier I exam, candidates who clear the cut off can appear for next level.
- Tier II
This is also called the Mains exam. The syllabus and exam pattern for Tier II has been given in the next section. Candidates who clear the cut off can appear for next level. Recently, this exam is conducted online and it is objective paper.
- Tier III
This is a Descriptive paper. The syllabus and exam pattern for Tier III has been given in the next section. This is a pen and paper based exam that can taken in either English or Hindi by the candidates.
- Tier IV

SSC CGL Tier-3 Exam Pattern
Tier-3 of SSC CGL 2018 will be a descriptive test.
The paper will be in English/Hindi and will constitute of 100 marks.
The entire paper needs to be completed in 60 minutes.

SSC CGL Tier-4 Exam Pattern
DEST: Candidates are required to type 2000 words in 15 minutes on a computer in English. This test is conducted to check a candidate’s writing skills.
CPT: This test is conducted to check a candidate’s proficiency in Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Generation of Slides.
