Who is Amanda Hoshaw?

In 2006, David Hoshaw and Angelique Goyena fell in love after meeting each other for the first time online. Six months later, he made the proposal, and shortly after that, they moved in with Vonda, the woman who was the woman’s mother.

On the other hand, Angelique was unaware of the fact that David was rapidly losing interest in the relationship and had begun dating another lady whose name was Amanda and who was from Menominee, Michigan.

Although the first party was oblivious of her fiancé’s affair, she did begin to suspect something was amiss when she began to observe his lack of involvement in the wedding preparations as well as his cold demeanor toward her.

On June 30, 2007, things tragically took a turn for the worst when Angelique, age 35, and Vonda, age 74, were stabbed to death in their home in Norfolk. Regrettably, this was a tragic turn of events.

It was difficult for the authorities to determine the motive for the murder or identify any possible suspects given that there were no traces of forced entry and the victims did not have any known adversaries.

In addition, David was able to provide a rock-solid alibi when he was questioned about his whereabouts on the day that the murder took place. According to him, he and his son, who was 12 years old at the time, were at a Boy Scouts camp for the week around 80 miles away from the location of the crime.

After it was established that David was telling the truth, he was exonerated, and the investigation into who was responsible for the crime was restarted from the beginning. Amazingly, just two weeks had passed after the murder when they got a letter from Chicago written by a man who claimed to be the murderer.

According to the letter, the individual is suspected of carrying out the murders because Angelique did not accept his advances toward her. Soon after, the detectives were sent another letter from Michigan that had the same man’s taunts on their inability to track him down.

In the meantime, David appeared to be distressed by Angelique’s passing, and he reportedly informed Amanda that he had ended his engagement to his fiancée. Other from that, he asserted that he was innocent and that he had nothing to do with the murders in any way.

Nonetheless, it was really weird that David didn’t even bother to attend Angelique’s burial and instead went straight to Michigan. Despite this, Amanda had faith in him, and he ended up moving in with her after which they got engaged.

How was it that Amanda was successful in getting David Hoshaw to confess to the murders?
Throughout the subsequent three years, Amanda and David established a contented life together in Menominee, Michigan, and welcomed a child into the world.

On the other hand, the law enforcement officials in Virginia came to the conclusion that his alibi for the murder did not add up in certain places and made the decision to investigate his past thoroughly.

Not only did they learn that David had a history of allegedly abusing his two previous wives, but they also found evidence in David’s cell phone records and credit card receipts that placed him at the very places from which the anonymous confession letters were mailed.

As a result of the circumstantial evidence, he was taken into custody in June 2009 when he was at his house in Menominee and indicted for first-degree murder.

In spite of this, the detectives were concerned that David would eventually be able to evade capture because the evidence against him was insufficient and he maintained his innocence throughout the interview.

Hence, they called in Amanda, who was his fiancée at the time, knowing that he would trust her without question and likely confess his acts if she was present. She was eight months pregnant with their second kid at the time, and she was feeling a lot of anxiety over David’s mess.

In spite of this, she made the decision to meet him at the local police station. In spite of the fact that the officers let the couple speak to each other privately in the interrogation room, they continued to listen to their chat through the one-way mirror.

When some time had passed, David eventually confessed to Amanda that he had planned to end his relationship with Angelique, but “he went insane” and ended up killing both Angelique and her mother instead.

In addition to this, he admitted that he was the one who was responsible for writing and sending the deceptive letters to the authorities. “That was an idiotic move. During the discussion that was taped, David is heard saying, “I was trying to get him off of my back.” The direct admission that Amanda coaxed out of him as well as the circumstantial evidence against him led him to the realization that there was no way out of this situation.

As a result, David entered a guilty plea to two charges of first-degree murder and was sentenced to two consecutive terms of life in prison without the possibility of release.

After David was sentenced to prison, Amanda gave birth to their second child and vowed to lead a life of full seclusion from the outside world. Even on the show, she declined to give her last name, but she did say that she has animosity towards the man who used to be her fiancé. Amanda admitted that he had caused her and their children a great deal of pain and then went on to say, “He lied about his being in a relationship with Angelique.”

Hence, he was successful in getting me into the circle, and then he got rid of her and effectively murdered her because of me… I have nothing except the worst feelings towards them.” She leads a somewhat secluded life these days, with the primary goals being advancing her career and successfully rearing her two children.

David Hoshaw: Where Is He Now?

Good goodness, Hoshaw is no longer in a position where he can cause any harm to other people. According to The Virginian-Pilot, the person who was convicted of murder entered a guilty plea to two charges of first-degree murder. Due to the severity of his offenses, he was given two sentences of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. He has not been released from prison as of yet.

It has been stated that the prosecutors intended to seek the death penalty for Hoshaw prior to his guilty plea. Hoshaw made the following statement in response to the charges that were brought against him: “For the sake of my family, I am pleading guilty to this crime.”

What did David Hoshaw do?

When Vonda and Angel were found dead on June 30, 2007, the investigators initially had no leads to follow in their search for the killer. Nevertheless, everything started to make sense after they thought of Angel’s fiance Hoshaw, who she had met on the internet. After that, the rest of the puzzle started to fall into place.

Because Hoshaw had an alibi, it was difficult for the detectives to pinpoint his location at the scene of the crime. On the night that the crime was committed, he had witnesses who confirmed that he was at a Boy Scout camp located around 80 miles away from the location where it took place.

But, according to The Virginian-Pilot, Vonda, who was still alive when police arrived at the scene, stated that “her daughter’s boyfriend” attacked them before she passed away. Vonda made this statement before she passed away.

How Did David Hoshaw Come to Be Apprehended?

With the passing of Angel and Vonda, Hoshaw moved to the state of Michigan and started a new relationship with a woman named Amanda. A short time afterwards, that couple also announced their engagement.

Even though Hoshaw had a rock-solid alibi, investigators couldn’t shake the feeling that he was responsible for the crime. After conducting further research on him, they came to the conclusion that there were records indicating that he had harmed his previous spouses and committed fraud against them.

According to 13NewsNow, Hoshaw was taken into custody following the discovery of evidence that linked his credit cards to places close to post offices where letters from an apparent admirer of Angel’s were sent.

Hoshaw’s confession to the two killings was heard by investigators through a one-way mirror while he was speaking privately with Amanda. Prior to that, Hoshaw had refused to cooperate with the police; nevertheless, he did admit to the murders when he was alone with Amanda.
