NFL Career of Alvin Kamara
The New Orleans Saints selected Alvin Kamara in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He had an immediate impact as part of a potent offense headed by Drew Brees and boasting passing game weapons like Michael Thomas.
Kamara’s ability to receive the ball out of the backfield was a wonderful match for a club that relies heavily on the short passing game. And Kamara enjoyed the dividends, earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in his rookie season.
Kamara hasn’t slowed down since his explosive rookie season, either. In each of his first three seasons, he was named to the Pro Bowl. Kamara averaged more than one rushing score every other game in his first three seasons, with a nearly same balance of rushing yards and receiving yards. Kamara scored 37 touchdowns in 45 games over three seasons, making him one of the top NFL players at getting into the end zone during that time.
Alvin Kamara’s colleagues are well aware of his potential, as he was rated one of the top-15 players in the NFL by them following the 2018 season. During that season, Kamara assisted the Saints in earning a first-round bye in the playoffs as the NFC’s top team.
If it hadn’t been for a contentious no-call on a pass interference in the fourth quarter of the NFC Championship Game against the Rams, Kamara might have already been in the Super Bowl.
