High Court of Gujrat is offering job for the posts of a Civil Judge. There are various posts for which the state government of Gujrat is recruiting aspiring candidates but the post of civil judge at the High Court of Gujrat requires something more than ordinary therefore all the aspirants are advised to check the eligibility criteria to check their eligibility for this highly respected and wanted post. The competition for this post is very tough as there are not many vacant posts.

Gujarat High Court Civil Judge Exam Pattern

The candidates are shortlisted through two written examinations- Prelims and Mains. Prelims exam paper have three sections (A, B,C) and a total of 100 questions with each question carrying one mark. There is a negative marking of 0.33. out of 100 questions, 75 are in English and the remaining 25 are in gujrati language. The candidates are given 2 hours to solve the question paper with three sections based on general knowledge and knowledge about Laws and Acts.

The mains exam on the other hand has 3 papers and all being descriptive type written examination. Paper I and Paper II are of 75 marks each and are in english language and candidates have 150 minutes for each paper. Paper III is in gujrati language and is of 50 marks and candidates have 90 minutes to solve this paper. The candidates are advised to go through the syllabus and solve practice papers to get a better idea of the exam.

Gujarat HC Civil Judge Exam Syllabus 

Candidates appearing for Gujrat High Court exams have to first appear for a prelims exam after that the candidates who have passed the prelims will be eligible for the mains exam. The candidates can prepare for both the exams by going through the exam pattern, syllabus and practice papers The syllabus for the prelims part A consists of topics like Indian Penal Code (1860), The Code of Criminal Procedure (1973), The Indian Evidence Act (1872), The Probation of Offenders’ Act (1958),

The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act (2015), The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (2005), The Gujarat Prevention of Gambling Act  (1887), The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (1956), Pre-conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act (1994),The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881(Only Ch.XVII), The Registration of Births and Deaths Act (1969). The part B of the prelims exam will have the given topics,The Code of Civil Procedure (1908), The Limitation Act (1963), The Indian Contract Act (1872),

The Indian Partnership Act (1932), The Specific Relief Act (1963), The Gujarat Court Fees Act (2004). The syllabus for the General Knowledge for the Gujrat High Court exam includes topics like Indian Geography, Current affairs, International news and topics, Constitution of India, Scientific research and developments, Indian culture and capitals and political science.

The syllabus for the English exam will be based on English Grammar section i.e. topics like verb and adverb, articles, synonyms and antonyms, sentence completion, error detection, comprehension, idioms, vocabulary, grammar etc will be used to prepare the questions. So candidates are advised to prepare the English Grammar properly so as to score good in their exam as this paper will help them in boosting their marks.

The syllabus for aptitude and reasoning asked in the exam will of basic aptitude level that is asked in any other such type of exams. Topics like decision making, Venn diagrams, blood relations etc are chosen for questions. Candidates should prepare this section as they would do for any other competitive exam. The Gujrati language section will be based on topics such as,

The Gujarat Court Fees Act, 2004
Indian Partnership Act (1932), The Limitation Act (1963), Indian Contract Act (1872), The Code of Civil Procedure (1908), Specific Relief Act, (1963). The candidates can go through as many previous year papers as they want so as to get a better idea of the exam pattern and syllabus and then plan accordingly to prepare for the exams.
