SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern
The SSC Stenographer selection procedure consists of two phases i.e. objective type examination followed by skill test. The online objective test consists of 200 marks in 2 hours of time duration. SSC Stenographer Syllabus – General Intelligence & Reasoning
The General Intelligence and reasoning test is taken to test the mind of the candidate how sharp it its working and how fast he can tackle the things.
1. Classification
- Weightage: 6-9 Qs
- Question Type: Number, Letter, GK and Meaningful Words based..
2. Analogy
- Weightage: 8-9 Qs
- Question Types: Number, Letter, GK and Meaningful Words, Member of a group etc.
3. Coding Decoding
- Weightage: 2-3 Qs
- Question Types: Questions on Coding by Analogy, Coding and decoding by letter shifting, Coding on Letters of a Word, could include operations on place values.

4. Puzzle
- Weightage: 4-6 Qs
- Question Types:Puzzles based on mathematical operations, coded logics etc. Also, there is a possibility that some questions on seating arrangement can be asked.
5. Matrix

- Question Types:1 or 2 Matrix of letters with numbers are given from which correct set of numbers for given word is to find out.
6. Word formation
- Weightage: 2-3 Qs
- Question Types: From the given word find whether the given option words can be formed or not.
7. Arranging Words in Logical Order or Dictionary Order
- Weightage: 3-5 Qs
- Question Types: It can be meaningful order of doing a certain task, or following a certain rule. In dictionary order words are to be arranged according to dictionary sequence in ascending or descending order.
8. Venn diagram
- Weightage: 3-4 Qs
- Question Types: Problems based on Venn Diagram representing the relation between different entities.

9. Directions & Distances
- Weightage:2-3 Qs
- QuestionTypes: Simple problems that can be solved by just drawing all information on paper.
10. Blood Relations
- Weightage: 1-2 Qs
- Question Types: Family Tree or General Blood Relation Problems.
11. Series
- Weightage: 5-7 Qs
- Question Types: Complete the series, find the missing number or wrong number in the given number/alphabet/mixed series. Also, Qs are based on missing number in diagram & matrix.
12. Order & Ranking
- Weightage: 1-3 Qs
- Question Types: Find the position of a person sitting in a line from the left/right or number of people sitting between the two persons.

SSC Stenographer Syllabus – English Language
The section consists of total 100 marks. The various topics expected in the English language are:
1. Reading Comprehension
- Weightage: 15 Qs (3 passage each consisting of 5 Marks)
- Question Types: Passages based on any topic. Questions are mostly fact based & can be directly picked out of the passage.
2. Cloze Test
- Weightage: 20 Qs (2 Sets)
- Question Types: A paragraph will be given & you have to fill the blank which goes with the syntax of the paragraph. The paragraph will be based on the social issue, general issue & some vocab based questions will be asked.
3. Synonyms & Antonyms
- Weightage: 10 Qs
- Question Types: You have to find the synonyms & antonyms of the given word.

4. Fill in the Blanks
- Weightage: 2-4 Qs
- Question Types: A mix of grammar and vocabulary based questions on phrasal verbs, conjunctions, prepositions, tenses, usage in context, confusable words
5. Spellings
- Weightage: 0-2 Qs
- Question Types: Choose the correctly spelt word or the misspelt word from different words. The same word can be spelt in different ways and you are asked to select the correct spelling.
6. Phrase and Idiom Meaning
- Weightage: 5 Qs
- Question Types: The meaning of the phrase or idiom can be asked in a sentence. The meaning can also be asked directly.
