The prosecution portrayed Randy as a manipulator and a killer who had a practice of killing women for financial gain by pointing out the connections between Janis and Cynthia’s deaths and depicting Randy as a murderer.
At the trial, a poem that Cynthia had written detailing 44 things that Randy disliked about her, such as the appearance of her toes and the aroma of her coffee, played an important role. According to the poem, Randy does not “love” Cindy; rather, Randy despises Cindy.
More than a hundred witnesses gave testimony in which they described Randy as a man whose personality had altered once he seduced a target. It is alleged that Randy coerced women into purchasing insurance policies and designating him as the beneficiary of the policies.
Marilyn Brenneman, a senior assistant prosecutor, painted a picture of Randy as a “cold-blooded and calculated murderer who chases prey not with a traditional weapon, but with a smile and marriage offers.” After deliberating for a total of 8.5 hours, the jury found Randy guilty of murder in the first degree.
Brenneman stated that the evidence was, to put it bluntly, “overwhelming.” Randy was unsuccessful in appealing both his conviction and his sentence during the appeals process.
Randy Roth: Bio
Born on December 26, 1954, Randy Roth was the third son of Gordon and Lizabeth Roth and the first kid of their family. He enjoyed repairing automobiles and then racing them on the back roads of the countryside for fun.
Randy joined the Marine Corps in 1973, the year he graduated from high school, because he wanted to live up to the example set by his favorite movie character, Billy Jack. In the days leading up to his deployment, he committed a robbery at the gas station where he had worked in the past, although he was not arrested or charged with the offense at the time.
Randy’s stint in the Marines did not live up to his expectations because he was stationed in Okinawa as a file clerk rather than engaging in the exciting battle that he had envisioned for himself.
After serving for a little over a year, he was finally released go when his mother, who was receiving welfare at the time, protested to the military in writing that it was difficult for her to have him away and that she needed him to be able to support her at home.
Randy Roth: Life Story
Randy hails from the state of Washington, and he is a convicted burglar and killer. He was found guilty of the murder of his fourth wife, Cynthia Baumgartner Roth, in the year 1991, and he was suspected of killing his second wife, Janis Roth, in the year 1981; however, he was never charged for that crime.
He was the sole person present throughout both of the deaths.
