What Did Mitt Romney tell George Santos ? A Clip of Poor Lip Reading Goes Viral
After a lip-reading video of their furious disagreement at the State of the Union address was recently uploaded online, US Senator Mitt Romney and controversial Congressman George Santos found themselves on the trending page on Twitter.
This happened shortly after the video was uploaded.
Romney may be seen glaring towards Santos and repeatedly mouthing what appears to be “you ought to be embarrassed” in a film that was shared by Bad Lip Reading. It was then shown that Santos would respond by saying, “Well, that’s your opinion. You’re an a**!”
Although this is rather off-brand for me, I thought I’d share some not-too-bad lip reading with anyone who’s intrigued about this exchange.
After that, it was possible to observe Santos addressing Romney with lines such as “Yeah, you are quite formal” and “Quite a gentleman, aren’t you?” before Romney was seen leaving the scene. Romney was seen leaving the scene.
Romney confirmed to reporters that he informed Santos during the address that Santos “shouldn’t be in Congress,” as the clip of the exchange went popular online and left people convinced about the accuracy of the lip-reading. Romney made this statement as the clip of the exchange went viral online.
The Senator poked fun at Santos in light of the ongoing scandal around his fraudulent CV. The member of Congress has acknowledged to lying on his CV about significant aspects of his life, including his schooling, professional history, heritage, and financial assets, among other things, but he has refused to resign from his position in spite of calls for his resignation.
On January 3, 2019, Mitt Romney was sworn in as the newest Senator for the state of Utah.
Talk is cheap, but action is absolutely necessary if we are going to be successful in overcoming the issues that are currently confronting our families, our state, and our nation.

George Santos: Who Is She?
George Anthony Devolder Santos is a politician from the United States who has served as the congressman for New York’s 3rd congressional district since 2023. He was born on July 22, 1988, and has been in office since 2023.
Santos, who is affiliated with the Republican Party, won the election to Congress in 2022, two years after his challenge to the incumbent, Thomas Suozzi, ended in failure in 2020.
In both public and private settings, Santos has been caught on multiple occasions making assertions that are either untrue or highly suspect regarding his background, including his biography, employment history, criminal record, financial situation, ethnicity, and religion, as well as other topics.
About six weeks after he was elected, multiple news sites discovered that major elements of his self-published biography looked to be falsified.
These parts included statements about his lineage, schooling, career, charity work, property ownership, and crimes of which he claimed to be a victim.
Santos has stated that he has lied about his schooling and work, and as of January 2023, he is the subject of an investigation by officials from the federal government of the United States, the state of New York, and Nassau County.

His maternal grandmother was named Rosalina Caruso Horta Devolder. One of his four maternal great-grandparents was born in Belgium in 1863 and immigrated to Brazil in 1884. The other three of his four maternal great-grandparents were all born in Brazil.
George Santos: What We Know and Don’t Know
Mr. Santos did not work where he said he did.
Over the course of his two campaigns for Congress, the first of which was unsuccessful, Mr. Santos cast himself as an accomplished veteran of Wall Street, with work experience at both Citigroup, where he said he was “an associate asset manager,” and at Goldman Sachs. Both firms told The Times that they had no record of Mr. Santos’s ever working for them.
In recent interviews, Mr. Santos has claimed that he did not actually work for those companies, but rather with them, when he was employed at a company called LinkBridge Investors, which says it connects fund managers with investors.
Mr. Santos did not graduate from the schools he said he had.
Mr. Santos has said he graduated from Baruch College in Manhattan with a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance. A biography on the website of the House Republicans’ campaign committee said he had also studied at N.Y.U. But neither college could find records verifying those claims, and in his interview with The Post, Mr. Santos admitted that he had lied about his education.
Mr. Santos says he is not Jewish, so much as “Jew-ish.”
Mr. Santos has said that his mother was born in Brazil to immigrants who “fled Jewish persecution in Ukraine, settled in Belgium and again fled persecution during WW II.” And he has identified as both Catholic and as a nonobservant Jew.
But citing genealogy records and Brazilian records, both The Forward, a Jewish publication, and CNN have reported that Mr. Santos’s maternal grandparents appear to have been born in Brazil before World War II. Mr. Santos has responded to those revelations by modifying his story ever so slightly.
“I always joke, I’m Catholic, but I’m also Jew-ish — as in ‘ish,’” he told City & State. “I grew up fully aware that my grandparents were Jewish, came from a Jewish family, and they were refugees to Brazil. And that was always the story I grew up with, and I’ve always known it very well.”

After he won election, Mr. Santos, who says he is gay, claimed to have “lost four employees” at the 2016 shooting at Pulse, a gay club in Orlando, a claim for which The Times could find no evidence.
During an interview on WABC radio, Mr. Santos said that those “four employees” did not actually work for his Florida company. Rather, those four individuals were in the process of being hired, he said.
“We did lose four people that were going to be coming to work for the company that I was starting up in Orlando,” he said.
Mr. Santos denied committing any crimes.
Contrary to records unearthed by The Times, Mr. Santos has seemed to insist that he was never charged with fraud for writing checks with a stolen checkbook in Brazil.
“I am not a criminal here — not here or in Brazil or any jurisdiction in the world,” he told The Post. “Absolutely not. That didn’t happen.”
