Christian Eriksen: Cardiac Arrest And Health Update
Tottenham started the 2019-20 season terribly, suffering from a hangover from their close call with Champions League success.
As a result, Pochettino lost his job and was replaced by Jose Mourinho. Eriksen’s Spurs contract expired this season, and the Dane agreed to leave the club in the January transfer window.
Inter finished second in Eriksen’s first season, but they improved the following year, with Eriksen supplying assists for the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to score.
Eriksen’s career and livelihood, however, would be jeopardized during the Euro 2020 competition. Denmark’s first game was against Finland.
Eriksen fainted on the field shortly before the halftime break. There was no doubt that something was amiss. Eriksen and his teammates were terrified at the time.
The first teammate to dash toward Eriksen and maybe save his life was Danish captain Simon Kjaer. He moved quickly to check Eriksen’s pulse, stabilize him on his back, and ensure his tongue was not obstructing his airways.
The medical crew then arrived on the scene to do CPR on the midfielder, as the Danish players surrounded him to ensure his privacy.
Kjaer and the Danish medical team were later awarded the UEFA President’s Award in 2021 for their rapid thinking in these perilous conditions.
During these tense events, Kjaer was seen comforting Eriksen’s wife. Because of this incident, the game was canceled. Thankfully, word quickly circulated that Eriksen would be fine, albeit there were serious worries about his ability to play football again.
Christian was hospitalized at the age of 29 after suffering a heart arrest.
He underwent cardiac surgery and received an implanted cardioverter defibrillator, a device that detects an anomaly in the patient’s regular pulse. The gadget delivers a shock proportional to the stimulus to which the heart must return in order to stabilize.
Christian Eriksen: Family Details
Christian Eriksen was born in the Danish town of Middelfart. While Christian was growing up, his family’s economic situation was middle-class. His parents, Dorthe and Thomas, frequently travel to watch Christian play and will follow up with his media endeavors when they are unable to attend his games.
Christian Eriksen’s father, Thomas, has publicly shown his dislike for Chelsea. While still at Ajax, Thomas Eriksen spoke to the media in 2011 to urge young footballers NOT to join Chelsea.
This was due to the fact that Chelsea had rejected Eriksen following a trial when he was a teenager, and his parents were dissatisfied with how their son was treated.
Chelsea has subsequently earned a bad reputation for not giving their young players an opportunity, instead preferring to loan them out to other European clubs before selling them.
Maybe Thomas Eriksen was onto something back in 2011 – and it was a good thing Christian Eriksen never signed professional terms with them.
Of course, when Christian joined London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, his family’s contempt for Chelsea got even stronger.
Christian has one brother and one sister. His younger sister, Louise Eriksen, is a professional footballer who has been called up to Denmark’s national women’s soccer team. Kolding IF is her current club team, and her parents back her up just as much as Christian does.
Sabrina Kvist is Christian Eriksen’s true love. They’ve known each other since they were children. They began dating in 2012, while Christian was still at Ajax.
