Junior
- During the 2014–15 season, Glass was a member of the Winnipeg Thrashers of the American Hockey Association’s (AAA) Ice Hockey League. He participated in a total of 40 games and recorded 55 points.
- After that, the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL) selected him in the first round (19th overall) of the WHL Bantam Draft in 2014, after acquiring the pick from the Calgary Hitmen in a deal.
- Glass was selected to represent Team Manitoba in the 2015 Canada Winter Games during his first year of eligibility for the competition.
- Due to the outstanding play he had over the first few games of the 2016–17 season, Glass immediately moved up in the draft rankings.
- After being given a “C” level prospect rating by NHL Central Scouting in August, he was given a “A” rating in November, which indicates that he has the potential to be selected in the first round.
- Glass was rated as a top prospect for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the time the season came to a close, with scouts praising his mix of playmaking, hockey sense, and hands.
- In the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Glass was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights to be the sixth overall pick overall.

- Glass made his debut with the Golden Knights in the National Hockey League in the season opener against San Jose on October 2, 2019, after participating in the Golden Knights training camp.
- As a direct consequence of this, he was the very first Golden Knights draft pick to actually end up playing for the team. He scored the first goal of his career in the NHL during that contest.
- Glass was required to go through the concussion protocol when he was elbowed during the 2019–20 season by Brendan Lemieux of the Rangers, who was subsequently fined $2,000.
- In a three-team deal that took place on July 17, 2021, the Carolina Hurricanes sent Cody Glass to the Nashville Predators.
