Christensen graduated from Modoc High School in 1998 after attending South Fork Elementary School. She began playing basketball in sixth grade, but it wasn’t until her junior year of high school that she realised she could use basketball to pay for her college education.
As a senior, Christensen averaged 17.4 points per game and 9.8 rebounds per game. In 1998, she was named California Division V Player of the Year, as well as Shasta Cascade League MVP in her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons.
