Dennis Gate has been married to Jocelyn Gates for five years.

On May 5, 2017, the couple exchanged vows at San Francisco City Hall in California.

According to the “Black Bride” wedding firm that accompanied the couple during their ceremony, they began dating in January 2012.

Dennis and Jocelyn have three children from their decade-long marriage. The Gates brothers live in Ohio.

Jocelyn Gates Is A Soccer Coach

The Jocelyn Gates is an Ohio State University soccer coach and Senior Associate Athletics Director.

Jocelyn took over as the OHS’s new football sports administrator in 2021, succeeding Diana Sabau. According to eleven warriors, Gates is in charge of football scheduling.

She was a senior associate for college athletics administration at Boston College before moving to Ohio. Her responsibilities as a SA in Boston included overseeing women’s soccer, basketball, and men’s and women’s golf.

Jocelyn graduated from Howard University, where she played four seasons in the women’s soccer programme. Her academic career began at the University of South Florida and continued at Duke University.

Dennis and Jocelyn married in a private ceremony at San Francisco City Hall in May 2017.

The lovely couple married in front of 50 to 60 friends and family members.

Our pastor was flown in from North Carolina. We eventually went to Napa and had a great time there.”

Dennis was 38 at the time, and Jocelyn was 36. During their 6-year relationship, they were mostly long-distance.

Due to their jobs, the couple was unable to live together during their first year of marriage.

Gates played college basketball at California, where he was a two-time Pac-10 first-team All-Academic selection, graduating in three years while also pursuing a master’s degree.

And, Gates was also a member of Cal’s NCAA Tournament team in 2002.

Coaching Career Of Dennis Gate

Following graduation, Gates worked as a coaching intern for the Los Angeles Clippers before moving on to the college ranks, where he spent a season each as a graduate assistant coach at Marquette and Florida State. In 2005, he returned to his alma mater as a full-time assistant coach under Mike Montgomery.

Gates worked as an assistant coach at Northern Illinois from 2007 to 2009 before moving on to Nevada for two years.

In 2011, he rejoined the Florida State staff as an assistant coach under Leonard Hamilton, and he was a member of the Seminoles’ ACC Tournament championship team in 2011-12. He was a member of seven Seminole NCAA Tournament teams, including two Sweet 16 appearances and one Elite Eight appearance.

During a game between Florida State and Duke on January 10, 2017, Gates was shoved by Blue Devils guard Grayson Allen as the guard went for a loose ball near the Florida State bench. The video went viral, but Gates defended Allen in the aftermath, claiming he was not the victim of a dirty play.

Gates was named the 17th head coach in Cleveland State basketball history on July 26, 2019, succeeding Dennis Felton.

And, Gates’ first game as a college head coach was a 54-79 victory over Edinboro University of Pennsylvania on November 9, 2019.

Gates was named the 17th head coach in Cleveland State basketball history on July 26, 2019, succeeding Dennis Felton. Gates’ first game as a college head coach was a 54-79 victory over Edinboro University of Pennsylvania on November 9, 2019. Following his first season, Gates received a share of the Horizon League Coach of the Year award after Cleveland State won seven Horizon League games, the most for the school in five years.

And, Gates is only the second Cleveland State head coach in history to be named Horizon League Coach of the Year, joining Gary Waters (2007–08). He was also the first Horizon League Coach of the Year to have an 11-win season and only the second coach in league history to have a sub-.500 record, joining 1980-81 Horizon League Coach of the Year Bob Staak (12-16, Xavier).

The Gates also coached Algevon Eichelberger, a junior forward, to Horizon League All-Third Team honours, as well as Torrey Patton to Player of the Week (Jan. 6) and Hugo Ferreira to Freshman of the Week (Feb. 25). Cleveland State made significant strides under his leadership in his first season, winning three straight league games for the first time since 2014-15 and three straight non-conference games for the first time since the 2011-12 season.
