Nicholas Jay Bjugstad (born July 17, 1992) is an American professional ice hockey forward who currently plays for the National Hockey League’s Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL). The Florida Panthers selected him 19th overall in the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. After his junior season, Bjugstad signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Florida Panthers on April 3, 2013.

He immediately joined the Panthers to finish the 2012-13 season, and on April 27, 2013, he scored his first NHL goal against Anders Lindbäck in Florida’s season-ending victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Nick and Jackie Exchanged Vows In July 2018

Nick and Jackie Bjufstad married on July 14, 2018. Stout’s Island Lodge hosted their lavish wedding ceremony.

The couple hosted a BBQ and bonfire celebration on the Island near Cedar Lake the day before the fated day, and guests were encouraged to dress casually.

A few hours before the wedding, they hosted a Saturday lunch buffet at Stout’s Island Lodge – Island Resort in Wisconsin.

According to the knot, Nick and Jackie exchanged vows at 3.30 p.m. in Birchwood, WI, and became Mr. and Mrs. Bjugstad.

The Couple Have Two Adorable Daughters

Bjugstad and his wife have two adorable daughters, Layla and Lucy. They had their first child in April of 2019.

When the Pens were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs during the off-season, Jackie was in the delivery room. Soon after the game, Bjugstad went to the hospital to be with the couple as their first child, daughter Layla, was born.

During the 2018-19 season, Bjugstad and teammate Jared McCann were traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins on February 1, 2019, in exchange for Derick Brassard, Riley Sheahan, a second round pick, and two fourth round picks.

2010

Bjugstad began his collegiate career in 2010 with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, where he totaled 54 goals and 44 assists over three years while the team won two WCHA championships.

2008

Bjugstad declined an invitation to train with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program during the summer of 2008 out of loyalty to his high school teammates. Bjugstad graduated from Blaine High School in 2010 after helping the school win three consecutive Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournaments.
