Chad and Betsy married in the year 1999. They fell in love while attending college.

According to QB Country, the Alymyers recognized Luke’s talent at a young age. At the age of seven, their son had already broken the city record for touchdown passes in a single youth league season.

Because Luke’s father was an athlete, he assisted the QB in his football career. Luke was introduced to Mississippi State coach Joe Moorhead and David Morris at QB Country during his sophomore year. This aided the young footballer’s meteoric rise.

Luke’s Father Chad Altmyer Is A Doctor

Since 2004, Chad Altmyer has worked as an orthopedic surgeon at Mississippi State University.

Luke’s father studied at Greenville College. He attended Mississippi College and played baseball and basketball.

Chad has been treating student-athletes for the past 20 years, according to his profile. He treats athletes suffering from cuff tears, ACL tears, broken wrists, and sprained ankles. Chad also holds a Campbell Clinic fellowship and is a biology graduate with a minor in chemistry.

Dr. Chad has been appointed to the Mississippi College Board of Trustees. When he is not treating patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife, three children, and patients. As an avid hunter and fisherman, he seeks opportunities to share the great outdoors with his family.

Luke is also close to his maternal uncle, Ben Boykin, a former Ole Miss football player.

Don Boykin, Luke’s maternal grandfather, was an Ole Miss graduate and Jacksonville-area lawyer. He is Arnold “Showboat” Boykin’s younger brother. Don died on August 24, 2020, just before his grandson dropped out of Florida State, and Showboat died two years before Don.

Betsy Altmyer Was A Mississippi College Graduate

Betsy Altmyer, along with her husband, is a former graduate student at Mississippi State University.

At the College, Luke’s mother won three national cheerleading championships. She previously worked as an Independent Individual and Family Services Professional after studying Psychology in college.

Betsy frequently posts photos to her Facebook page. She can also be found on Twitter as @BAltmyer. Steele, Luke, and Whit are her three sons, according to her bio. She has also stated that she has been married to Chad for 23 years.

The proud mother of three has spoken about her athletic ancestors. “I think it’s ironic how things have turned out (for her sons); it’s God’s will, and that’s how we live our lives,” she said.

Betsy’s tweets are mostly about her son’s athletic career. Steele, her older son, played basketball at Mississippi College.

Steele had previously played for head coach Russ Whiteside at Heritage Academy. During his high school career, he was named the Hotbed Classic MVP and the MAIS Overall All-Tournament Team.
