Ochoa spent nearly five years in France after moving from Mexico, when he met Karla Mora. They fell in love and made the decision to start a family. Lucciana Ochoa Mora, the couple’s first child, was born on February 10, 2013, and the second two years later. Guillermo, their son, was born on April 3, 2015.

On July 8, 2017, Ochoa and Karla married in Ibiza. Karlita, their youngest daughter, was born on May 21, 2019, two years after their wedding. Her baptism was hastened before the March 2020 lockdown.

The delighted father frequently tweets photos of his family travelling and partying together. While Karla organises her family’s routine successfully, contributing to their happiness and closeness.

Career

For the 2016 season, Málaga loaned Ochoa to Granada. He made his Granada debut against Villareal, which finished in a tie.

Ochoa concluded the season for Granada by playing every minute of every game and recording 162 saves, the most in Europe’s top five divisions.

Ochoa signed a two-year contract with the Belgian Club Standard Liège after his season with Granada.

Guillermo was the club’s first-choice goalkeeper in his rookie season, appearing in 38 of the 40 league games, including playoffs.

Ochoa was selected the third-choice goalkeeper for the 2006 FIFA WORLD CUP by Ricardo La Volpe.

He also represented Mexico at the Copa America this summer, where he was praised for his performance in the 2-0 group stage win over eventual champions Brazil.

Later, he captained the U-23 team in the Olympic qualifications for the 2008 Summer Olympics. Mexico, on the other hand, failed to qualify after exiting the group stage.

In addition, he earned his World Cup Qualification debut against Costa Rica in 2010, and went on to feature in the bulk of qualification matches.

He got the Man of the Match award during the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Ochoa and four other Mexican national team athletes tested positive for the prohibited drug Clenbuterol during the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup and were removed from the team’s tournament squad.
