Brent Steven Celek (/slk/; born January 25, 1985) is a former National Football League tight end for the Philadelphia Eagles and a current American football executive (NFL). He played collegiate football at Cincinnati before being drafted by the Eagles in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He played for the Eagles for his whole 11-year career. Celek, who retired that offseason, was a key contributor to the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII victory over the New England Patriots in 2017.

Celek played high school football at La Salle High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was named to the district’s first team as a junior and senior. He set a school record by receiving a pass for 89 yards. He also earned two track letters in the discus and shot put competitions.
Brent Celek’s College Career
Celek played collegiate football for the Cincinnati Bearcats for four seasons, the first under head coach Rick Minter and the next three under Mark Dantonio. He was named to the Big East Conference’s second team and awarded the UC Claude Rost Award for Most Valuable Player. He caught 91 receptions for 1,135 yards (12.5 per catch) and 14 touchdowns in four years, helping the Bearcats win the International Bowl his final year and the Fort Worth Bowl his sophomore year.

Celek was drafted in the fifth round (162nd overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles after being rejected an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine[3]. He signed a four-year contract with the company on May 30, 2007.
2008 season
Celek set a team record for yards in a game with 131 in Week 9 of 2008 and a playoff game record with 10 receptions in the 2009 NFC Championship. He recorded two touchdown receptions against the Arizona Cardinals, and his 19 receptions in the NFL playoffs in 2008-09 were the third-most in NFL history for a tight end.
In 2009
Celek was promoted to the Eagles’ starting tight end position after L. J. Smith signed as a free agent with the Baltimore Ravens in 2009.
Celek was penalised for excessive celebration after a touchdown in a week nine home game against the Dallas Cowboys after teammate Jason Avant raised his leg to imitate the Captain Morgan rum mascot. Following the incident, the NFL quickly prohibited what turned out to be a covert advertising scheme in which any NFL player caught striking the “Captain Morgan” pose during a regular-season game received a $10,000 donation to the Gridiron Greats, a non-profit that assists retired NFL players with various hardships after leaving the game. The league did not reprimand Celek, but they did state that any more infractions would result in penalty.
Celek committed to a six-year contract with the Eagles on December 1, 2009, which would keep him with the team until the end of the 2016 season.
Celek recorded his third 100-yard game of the season on December 27, 2009, against the Denver Broncos in week 16. He had four receptions for 121 yards and one touchdown. His 47-yard touchdown reception was the longest of his career.
Celek was named to the 2009 USA Today All-Joe Team after a breakout season in which he had 76 receptions (a team high), 971 yards, and eight touchdowns.

Celek caught 42 passes for 511 yards and four touchdowns in the 2010 season, including a 65-yard score against the New York Giants in week 15’s Miracle at the Meadowlands, a then-career-long touchdown distance.

Celek was Michael Vick’s favourite target, with 811 receiving yards during the season. He was one of three offensive Eagles, along with rookie centre Jason Kelce and right tackle Todd Herremans, to start all 16 games.
During the off-season, Celek was a passenger in a drunk driving accident in which no one was injured.
The 2012 season
Celek finished the season with 57 receptions for 684 yards and one touchdown.
