Jonathan Huberdeau’s injury is worse than expected as he prepares to return to the game. He’s been dealing with a slew of injuries.
Huberdeau, a winger with the Calgary Flames, has suffered a series of injuries in recent years and has had little time to recuperate. As a result, he continues to acquire injuries, which have kept him out for several days.
The 29-year-old athlete sustained a blessure blow in an NHL game against the New York Islanders on Tuesday, November 8, and was not named to the game squad for the next day’s game against the Devils.
According to Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun, Huberdeau will miss the game against the New Jersey Devils on November 9 due to a minor foot ailment and had a strong chance of returning to the next round.
However, he did not play in the team’s next two games, against the Boston Bruins on Friday and the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday. And, while Huberdeau is unlikely to participate in Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings, he is anticipated to return before then.

Flames Expect Jonathan Huberdeau To Return Monday, Upper-body Still Sore
According to rumours, Jonathan Huberdeau is set to play again on Monday, although his upper body has yet to fully recuperate.
He’s been out for three games in a row after suffering a left foot injury against the Islanders on November 8. Huberdeau sat out the Jets game on November 12 for the third time in a row.
The Calgary Sun claimed earlier this week that the Flames forward was seen sporting a walking cast. Initially, they stated that the injury was in his upper body tissue.
Huberdeau is fortunate to have avoided a long-term injury that would have kept him out for a lengthy amount of time. In May 2015, he was out for the longest time owing to an injury. He then missed 2-4 weeks due to a spleen injury.
Regardless, Huberdeau did not skate against the Jets on Sunday. However, the Flames are hopeful that their left winger will return on Monday when they face the Los Angeles Kings, and that he can help the team halt its seven-game losing streak.
And it’s not just that the Calgary Flames lost after Huberdeau was ruled out with an upper-body injury; the Flames’ last victory came on October 26 against the Penguins.
Despite getting off to a solid start in this season’s NHL campaign with five consecutive wins, the Huberdeau club has failed to win any of their last seven games.
Huberdeau Has Payed For 11 of 14 Games This Season
Jonathan Huberdeau, 29, has appeared in games for the Calgary Flames this season. He is one of their top players in terms of assists per game.
Furthermore, the winger had a successful preseason, as his team, the Flames, won and lost three games. Huberdeau spent the previous nine seasons with the Florida Panthers before joining the Calgary Flames early this season.
Huberdeau signed a record-breaking contract with the Flames on August 3. The two parties agreed to an eight-year contract worth $84 million, the most significant contract in club history, surpassing Sean Monahan’s $44.625 million pact in 2016.
In his first season with the Flames, the Canadian forward has one goal and five assists in 11 games. Before being hurt on November 8, he had played in all 11 games, six preseason games, and five NHL games.
Huberdeau was unable to skate after injuring his left foot and has missed back-to-back games against the Devils, Bruins, and Jets so far. However, the Flames are optimistic that the 29-year-old will be able to play against the Kings on Monday, November 14.
Sports Career of Jonathan Huberdeau
Junior Huberdeau played Midget AAA hockey with the Ste. Eustache Vikings of the Quebec Midget League. He led the league in scoring during the 2008-09 season. Following his performance, the Saint John Sea Dogs chose him 18th overall in the first round of the 2009 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Midget draught. He scored his first QMJHL goal against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Huberdeau concluded the 2009-10 QMJHL season as the league’s leading scorer among 16-year-olds, scoring on all six of his shootout opportunities. In January 2010, he was named the QMJHL’s scholar-athlete of the month. The Sea Dogs reached the QMJHL finals during Huberdeau’s rookie season.
Huberdeau was selected as one of 33 prospects to attend the NHL Research, Development, and Orientation Camp in August, before to the start of the 2010-11 season. The NHL invited the prospects to participate in order to put proposed rule changes to the test, as well as to offer them with security and professionalism training in preparation for their futures as public personalities.
Huberdeau was viewed as a promising prospect for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft at the start of the 2010-11 QMJHL season, and his outstanding play helped him advance up the rankings. He appeared in 67 games for the Sea Dogs, scoring 43 goals and assisting on 62 others. At the end of the 2010-11 season, he was ranked third among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting, moving up one spot from the mid-season rankings. Huberdeau was drafted fifth overall in the 2011 Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) Junior Draft by Russian team Vityaz Chekhov. “There is no doubt that I don’t want to go,” Huberdeau said after learning of his decision. The 2011 QMJHL champion Sea Dogs represented the league in the 2011 Memorial Cup. The Sea Dogs advanced to the Memorial Cup title game after winning their first two round-robin games. Huberdeau scored a goal and assisted on another for the Sea Dogs in their 3-1 triumph over the Mississauga Majors in the final. He was named to the tournament’s All-Star Team and was awarded the Stafford Smythe Memorial Trophy for being the tournament’s most valuable player.
Huberdeau was nominated for three QMJHL awards at the end of the season: the Paul Dumont Trophy for QMJHL personality of the year, the Mike Bossy Trophy for top professional prospect, and the Michel Brière Memorial Trophy for Most Valuable Player.
Sean Couturier was named MVP and outstanding prospect, and Louis Leblanc was named personality of the year. He did not receive any of the accolades. Huberdeau was named to the league’s first team of all-stars.

The Florida Panthers are a professional hockey team (2013–2022)
Huberdeau scored a goal against the Nashville Predators on September 20, 2011, while playing in his second NHL preseason game for the Florida Panthers. He played five preseason games with the Panthers before being moved to Saint John on October 3, leading the team in scoring with three goals and one assist.
When the NHL lockout that had lasted the previous two seasons ended, Huberdeau was promoted to the Panthers’ starting lineup for the 2012-13 season. On January 19, 2013, he scored his first NHL goal against Cam Ward of the Carolina Hurricanes on his second shift and first shot. Huberdeau was named the game’s first star after contributing two assists in his NHL debut.
The Panthers could only keep Huberdeau on their roster for a maximum of five games before deciding whether to keep him or send him back to his junior team, according to NHL rules. After contributing one goal and two assists in five games, the Panthers stated on January 28, 2013, that Huberdeau would remain with them for the rest of the NHL season. Huberdeau won the Calder Memorial Trophy in 2013 as a result of his outstanding rookie season.
In 77 games played in 2014-15, Huberdeau set a career high with 15 goals and 39 assists (54 points). Huberdeau concluded the season with 6 goals and 15 assists (21 points) in 20 games played following Florida’s late-season acquisition of forward Jaromr Jágr from the New Jersey Devils, who was teamed alongside Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov on the team’s top line.
Huberdeau led the Panthers in assists for the first time since Stephen Weiss in 2008-09. His final score was 39. Huberdeau was set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
On September 6, 2016, Huberdeau and the Panthers agreed to a six-year, $35.4 million contract with a $5.9 million average annual salary.
Following the signing, Panthers president of hockey operations Dale Tallon praised Huberdeau, saying, “Jonathan is a dynamic and exceptionally gifted player who contributes tremendously to the young core of our club.”
He has scored more than 50 points in each of the last two seasons and has become an important element of our team’s offensive.”
On November 16, 2019, Huberdeau surpassed Stephen Weiss to become the Florida Panthers’ all-time leader in assists.
