The Buffalo Sabres sent Jeff to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Cliff Pu and a second-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Year, a third-round pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, and a sixth-round pick in the same draft.

Why Andrea Skinner’s Resigned from Hockey?

Andrea Skinner, the interim chair of Hockey Canada’s Board of Directors, resigned after announcing her resignation.

According to CTV News, she departed the corporation as the controversy surrounding the organization’s handling of accusations of physical attacks escalated.

On Saturday night, the ailing national sports organization announced that Skinner will relinquish his roles as chair and board member.

Hockey Canada’s national organization has recently lost more corporate sponsors and provincial groups, which has resulted in her probable exit from the organization.

Skinner was appointed as a volunteer member of Hockey Canada’s board of directors in November 2020. She had only been acting as interim chair for over two months when departing board chairman Michael Brind’Amour resigned on August 6.

Skinner expressed her gratitude in a statement posted by Hockey Canada on Saturday for the fact that members of the organization had chosen her to serve on the board and offered her the opportunity to contribute to the general development of the sport as well as Hockey Canada.

Since it was revealed in May that Hockey Canada had struck a confidential settlement with a woman who had filed a lawsuit demanding $3.55 million alleging that eight players had sexually abused her, the organization has faced criticism.

According to sportsnet.ca, claims of gang abuse against the World Junior Team from 2003 began to surface in July. There has been no evidence offered in court to back up any of the claims.

During the investigations conducted by government officials and the media into how Hockey Canada handled the 2018 charges, it was discovered that the organization had kept two separate funds for the purpose of funding the settlement of allegations.

In reaction to the allegations, the federal government has withdrawn its financial support for Hockey Canada, and a number of the organization’s major sponsors have either suspended or terminated their relationships with the national sports organization.

Skinner strongly supported Hockey Canada’s leadership when she was summoned to speak before members of Parliament via video alongside Brind’Amour at a hearing of the Canadian Heritage standing committee in Ottawa earlier this week. Brind’Amour was also in attendance for the conference.

Throughout the hearing on Tuesday, she highlighted that hockey should not be exploited as a “scapegoat” or “centerpiece” for a poisonous culture that occurs in other sections of society.
