NIT Patna is the 18th National Institute of Technology, NIT created by the Ministry of HRD. It was established in 1886. It is public institution & Institute of National Importance. It is approved by AICTE (All India Council of Technology Education) NIT Patna provides high- level education research, training, and development in engineering technology, humanities and science. It is a very popular government engineering colleges in Bihar. Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology is also known as MIT, Muzaffarpur. It came into existence on 1954. Our first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the founder of this institution in 1954. MIT Muzaffarpur College under the administrative control of the department of science and technology. Birla Institute of Technology was established in 2006. It is also known as BIT, it is one of the most reputed engineering colleges in India. BIT is a semi-government college (Public-Private Partnership), it is approved by AICTE and affiliated to BIT, Mesra, Ranchi.

5. INDIAN Railway INSTITUTE OF MECHANICAL & ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
Indian Railway Institute of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering is popularly known as IRIMEE, Jamalpur, it was established in 1888 as a technical school. But in the year 1927 it was commenced as training of Mechanical Engineer for Indian Railways. At a present-day, IRIMEE, Jamalpur conducts four years UG courses in Mechanical Engineering. College provides various facilities such as- 24 hours electricity backup, well- equipped hostel, cafeteria, medical care, library, medical workshop, own transport, computer lab, audio- video room, well- equipped lab.
The IRIMEE was formed in 1888 as a railway technical school linked to the Jamalpur Railway Locomotive Workshop of the East Indian Railway.

Darbhanga College of Engineering is well known Engineering College in Bihar. It is also known as DCE Darbhanga. It was established in 20 Nov, 2008. DCE, Dharbhanga College approved by AICTE, affiliated to Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna. And administrated by Department of Science and Technology, Bihar. Dr. Archintya Sinha is the principal of DCE.
