Himachal Pradesh gathered statehood on 25^th January, 1971. On this date, the function of Public Service Commission in respect of the civil services and posts in connection with the affairs of the Union Territory of Himachal Pradesh were being discharged by the Union Public Service Commission under the Article 315 of the Constitution of India. Therefore, incumbent on the State to have constituted simultaneously with the attainment of Statehood, the Union Public Service Commission, on a request of the Governor of the Himachal Pradesh State with the acknowledgement from President of India, agreed to provide the needs to Himachal Pradesh till the establishment of a Public Service Commission for the State or for a period of three months from date 25^th of January, 1971 whichever is earlier.

2. Written Examination
3. Personal Interview
4. Personality Test

In the beginning there will be a screening test of each and every candidates after completing of screening test the board will conduct an Written Examination, candidate who qualifies in the Written Examination will be allowed for the next round which is Personal Interview and completing these three phases eligible candidate will be selected for the final phase of the Selection Procedure which is Personality Test.
