Finland to bring revolutionary change in the education system: To scrap school subjects

Considered as one of the best, Finland’s school system is all set to undergo a revolutionary change by removing the school subjects from the curriculum. No more classes will be held for subjects like physics, math, literature, history, geography, etc. This system will be introduced for senior students, beginning at the age of 16. According to brightside.me report, the head of the Department of Education in Helsinki, Marjo Kyllonen, explained the changes:”There are schools that are teaching in the old-fashioned way which was of benefit in the beginning of the 1900s – but the needs are not the same and we need something fit for the 21st century.” The changes are expected to be complete by 2020.


Kerala: Government planning to sanction funds for higher education scholarship

The scholarships are still pending for the academic period of 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17, and an amount of Rs 2,374 lakhs which is required for disbursing that would be given to Kerala State Higher Education Council as supplementary demand for grant, Raveendran had informed the assembly on Wednesday. The government is planning to sanction funds for disbursal of higher education scholarship to degree and post-graduate students as supplementary demand for grant, State Education Minister C Raveendranath has said. The scholarships are still pending for the academic period of 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17, and an amount of Rs 2,374 lakhs which is required for disbursing that would be given to Kerala State Higher Education Council as supplementary demand for grant, Raveendran had informed the assembly on Wednesday.


Need to have innovation chapters in educational institutions: Chandrababu Naidu

“Every high school should have an innovation chapter; every university should have an innovation chapter. What is innovation, what we are doing differently,” Naidu said. Himachal Pradesh gives approval to Mukhya Mantri Shikshak Samman Yojana

Aimed at motivating the teachers to strive for giving better performance, the scheme would be applicable to trained graduate teachers (TGT), post graduate teachers (PGT), headmasters and principals. Due to poor results and falling learning levels in the state, the cabinet today approved “Mukhya Mantri Shikshak Samman Yojana”, providing for one year extension in service and cash incentive to teachers who would give 100 per cent results consistently for five years. Aimed at motivating the teachers to strive for giving better performance, the scheme would be applicable to trained graduate teachers (TGT), post graduate teachers (PGT), headmasters and principals. The cabinet meeting that chaired by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh also decided to hold the winter session of the state Assembly at Dharamsala from December 19 to December 23, 2016. The scheme also aims at helping and hand-holding entrepreneurs to select viable projects in the potential areas in manufacturing and service sectors and train them to set up start-ups and subsequently manage and run their enterprises professionally
